Kraft Dinner thread

so i went to the store yesterday and noticed

  • Kraft Dinner Three Cheese 200g
  • Kraft Dinner Sharp Cheddar 200g
  • Kraft Dinner White Cheddar 200g
  • Kraft Dinner Extra Creamy 200g
  • Kraft Dinner Cheese
    & Tomato 200g
  • Kraft Dinner Spirals 200g
  • Kraft Dinner Alfredo 175g

 

new flavours of kraft dinner

 

 

has anyone been brave enough to try any of them and if so how was it?

 

i bought "sharp cheddar" but haven't tried it yet

heat some double cream (or single), let it simmer gently whilst some salted water boils pasta, add grated hard cheese or (to avoid effort of grating and also tastes good) not grated soft cheese/blue cheese to the cream (break it up a bit with a spoon).. spaghetti spoon macaroni into the cheese sauce pan, allowing pasta water over in the cheese sauce cause it'll be an emulsifier.. it takes 10 minutes or less and involves about just a few hand movements. easy peasy.

 

having said that, i like this thread as the alternative to the new iphone thread

ive been eating tons of kraft-its cheaper than real cheese....plus after a long day at two jobs i don't want to spend another hour cooking and eating and then another 15 min cleaning the dishes.

 

hate me if you want, but i eat apples and other healthy shit. kraft dinners are great for po' folk.

but it takes 13 mins inc. washing up. consider the quantity of food you get for your money. they're ripping you off. i'm po'.

 

edit: also cause you can make enough for 5 days in 10 mins, it's probably quicker, and the washing up only takes like 3 minutes wtf

cheese round here is 5 bucks for a sliced package of 12 slices. unsliced cheese is about 50 cents less (the orange american stuff).

 

box o' pasta is a buck. Cheap=true, but if i want pasta ill eat it with tomato sauce which is loads cheaper round here than cheese.

i dont have a pack on me so i couldnt tell you, but it would take about 3 slices of cheese to make a decent mac n cheese. so seven bucks for 4 heaping portions of mac n' cheese.

 

 

meanwhile Kraft dinners are on sale for 35-50 cents with coupons. go figure, amirite?

I already said it. American cheese is 4.50-5 bucks a pound. And that's usually with a sale in my neck of the woods. Right now mac n cheese dinners are almost cheaper than ramen, and have 4 times the calories. its a good investment. i don't eat them everyday.

sometimes they do. very rarely is cheese on sale though. last time I had a hell of a time buying huge chunks of delicious Jarlsberg for 5 bucks. that made a great mac n cheese.

i was envious of Chicago. there was a Mexican butcher/deli in this one neighborhood that was selling Grade B beef/meats for almost half the normal price. God I would kill to live near a place like that.
