when the new album(s) come...

Recommended Posts

I think I will probably buy as many copies of the vinyl as I can afford at that time(2?). They are a great investmentment for your pocket as well as your ears.

will you dl a leak or wait a tick longer for the full package?

I wish I could wait, but I definitely wouldn't. And I know myself, I'll be buying MULTIPLE copies of the new album, so I wouldn't feel bad. I'll purchase the vinyl, and the CD when they're available.... but if you're saying that there was a legit leak? I'm not even sure you know what YOU would do either! Maybe that's why you started this thread? ...or not. Anyways, I'd download the leak. It wouldn't ruin a thing for me, and it wouldn't hurt them either.

I'd respect your restraint if you could resist it.

I don't know what I'd do. I know I wouldn't listen to it immediately. I'd probably go to this subforum and see what all of you think of it.

Then I guess I'd go from there. Either way, I'll be buying a CD.

i agree, it should be at least shut down, maybe not erased, but closed down until some thing comes out from/by them.

if they put something new out then there'd be something to talk about again. - fresh and interesting discussion!

BoC are the only group/artists in the featured artists here who are not active at all in any way anymore.

everyone else, with maybe the exception of Cylob, is releasing music, running record labels, doing gigs and touring, writing film soundtracks, remixing, etc. etc. so there's always something to talk about in every other subforum,............ and it doesn't always descend into bullshit, bitching and nonsense in the other subforums!

...I totally agree with this.

Joyrex, I'd like to know your opinion. Aren't you sick of having to close threads in this subforum?

Once the new album is announced, there'll be plenty of time beforehand to talk about the new release. And then when it does actually come out, they'll be a sharp increase in both the amount and the quality of the discussion. There'll be new members looking for a place to discuss it, and the BoC subforum will massively improve overall.

But until then, this subforum is just gonna go further and further downhill. It needs a short rest from all the bitching and trolling and ultimatums and nonsense and shit-throwing.

If it was closed for a short while, the bad threads would immediately stop. This would mean less work for the moderators and yourself. I think people just start threads like that because there's nothing else to do here, and nothing good is being inspired. However, when they're no longer tempted to do it, they will find somewhere else to go. And when they're opened again upon an official word from Warp/Hexagon Sun, there would be a good reason to post discussions, and no need for people to post nonsense/crap.

What do you think?

I'd buy the CD alright and I'd have to start doing willpower exercises before its release so as to prevent myself from listening to a leak. See, last year I told myself I wouldn't listen to a leak of Oversteps if it had leaked, and I did listen to the leak. Must have stronger resolve!

Anyone with half a brain would agree.

I try to stop myself posting on here, but it's like self-medication while I wait for new material.

haha, yes.. easier said than done! I thought the exact same thing with Oversteps and I listened to it the same night it leaked

What do you think?

Versus the requests from people wanting to post legitimate BoC threads asking why they can't? I don't think so.

Idiots are going to be idiots regardless of where they can and cannot post, so shuttering this forum (even temporarily) would just shunt them over to another sub forum to troll.

What you all (who are genuinely interested in raising the perceived "quality" of posts here) can do is create interesting, relevant threads discussing the band's myriad of tracks and releases.

Now that the show is over, and we have jointly exercised our constitutional rights, we would like to leave you with one very important thought: Some time in the future, you may have the opportunity to post as a member in a forum or a so-called artist subforum. It would be wise to remember that the same people who would stop you from discussing Boards of Canada may be back next year to complain about a post, or even a locked thread. If you can be told what you can post or discuss, then it follows that you can be told what to say or think. Defend your constitutionally protected rights - no one else will do it for you. thank you.

Good to see you can make interesting, relevant posts discussing the band's myriad of tracks and releases.

People in this subforum seem to have formed a stereotype of Boards of Canada fans, and this way of thinking can be seen in many posts.

Usually, when someone tries to create interesting discussion, there is a strong risk that no-one will contribute to it, or that people will mock it for being a "typical BoC fan". It seems to me that people don't actually want to have good discussion here. They just want to piss around and troll each other, pausing occasionally to let off their steam about the ever-mounting wait for new releases.

You might be cautious about what I'm about to suggest, but I'm just gonna throw it out there: What if you directed people to the Twoism forums? Just until there's a word of news, or something to stimulate new discussion here?

Maybe you could do a deal with Fredd-E. Just recommend Twoism to people on WATMM while the BoC subforum is closed, then Fredd-E could do a promotion for WATMM when it re-opens. It could be like a special occasion! A new release plus a new place to talk about it.

Nah, leave the sub-forum open. I had a legit question (Heysanna/Mushyz/North Sea Arbeit), and it got answered thanks to the wonderful folks here at the BOC subforum.

I wasn't about to start that thread on Twoism *sneer*.

Anyway, When the new album(s) cum, what will you do?

Edit: Lol, I'm the last poster in 4 of the top threads. I can't help myself.

twoism's not fredd-e's site, is it? i know he's a mod there, but i didn't think he was the owner or admin.

I'm one of the mods indeed and a friend of the admin GrimOnMbient / Aesthetics. I suggest not closing this subforum. People should be able to express their thoughts anytime they want. Our stance on trolling might be a bit harsher on twoism.org as we like to keep stuff more on topic and in line with common sense. The userbase on watmm happens to be more troll-like, especially on this particular subforum. The internet is evil.
