People hate Skrillex because he basically went full retard on electronic music and became a massive mainstream success because of it. There's a huge audience of people who just want to have their consciousness bludgeoned out of their skull for whatever reason and if they can have a dance whilst they're doing it then all the better. Skrillex gives them what they want time and time again. He may be a one trick pony but as long as people are buying what he's selling then people like us will hold a vague resentment towards him.

His success isn't annoying because it's mystifying; his success is annoying because it's so easily understandable.

Being a college age American, I have to deal with a lot of people that think Excision, Datsik, Rusko and Skrillex are the end-all-be-all of electronic music.

Hi Lucy, i think you should try reading Lube Saibot's post, you will not be disappointed and you will see that the critiques go much farther that what you just laid out. beautifully so in fact.
