Radiohead - oh yes!

Ooh, I suffered from a bad stomach yesterday. Slept whole day, was awake at night. Watched TV somewhere at around 3 o'clock in the morning, they gave me:

Radiohead - In Rainbows / From the basement

I thought I should watch it for a while, because I remembered, the IDM people sometimes mentioned Radiohead (don't know if for good or bad).

The performance impressed me - very listenable, often a bit BOCish in terms of the psychedelic route. Technically masterfully... and you gotta like Yorkes voice I guess. Dark, mysterious and twisted music as I like it. Nude! 15 step!

What are your feelings towards RH?

Was obsessed with em in my early teens.

Still quite enjoy their music.

They are a bit overrated. Like a few songs they've made.

But comparing them to BoC..... c'mon.

I don't see the connection.

I would love radiohead if they get rid of fucking singing and shit... instrumental for the winz

I go through phases. At the moment I love them, around Amnesiac and In Rainbows I grew bored of them, as I found them a bit too overbearing, I needed a Radiohead vacation so took one. The King of Limbs I found refreshing and easy to digest so got back into them and the remixes they had done was another refreshing angle on their music.

And live they are brilliant to behold. Speaking of which it's about time they loaded up the wagons...

Listening to "All I need" and other tracks of In Rainbows I clearly see similarities, it's the psychedelic background pads. I think BOC could do great remixes for them, I'm having the gorgeous remix of "Broken Drum" from Beck in mind.

Voice is generally not a problem for me. But you need to like it. If I don't like a voice, it destroys a whole piece.

I think one of my favourite things about Radiohead is Thom Yorke's vocals, and I love his turn of phrase sometimes. Still can't get on with The Bends and Hail To The Thief though.

love The Bends, remember when it first came out, all the posters up in 'Our Price'. never got into HTTT.

Radiohead wouldn't be RH without Thom and his voice. he is Radiohead, basically.

but for the record, i fucking love radiohead.

I like radiohead, but I showed most interest in them during Kid A and Amnesiac... I lost a little interest after those albums. I did like Thom York's Eraser album though.

I don't like anything they've made besides "In Rainbows". Everything else has sounded so boring to me.

Looking at Thom Yorke kind of makes me feel nauseous too. With that said "The Eraser" is such a beautiful album. Yorke has such a unique voice.

jules, with all of the TKOL RMXs I reckon you were right in a roundabout kind of way about all those branching limbs...

i don't count that. a) the remixes pretty much suck and 2) my thoughts for additional pieces were by them. like in the vein of the butcher/supercollider release.

Well I did say in a roundabout way. Although I did think that seven (7!) remix EPs was painful overkill, and I can only remember what two or three of those remixes sound like.

'OK Computer' was their best, album and era. a lot of/most people here will be too young to remember when that came out tho, or have been into it at the time. then they dived into the Warp factor and it was all hit 'n miss til 'The Eraser', and 'In Rainbows', imho.

haven't heard their latest album yet. but i think HTTT is probably 1 of, if not the worst album of theirs.

i disagree with most of that. how old are you sirch?

ok computer to kid a is a clear dividing line between fans of the band. i prefer the kid a era to the okc/bends era, but that is clearly just a taste thing, not one being better than the other because clearly okc is a top album of all time (for me)
