lol. having emotion and good melodies isn't something unique to afx. my main problem is the music not having any personality. when I hear the tracks, including the ones I really enjoy, I always think "this sounds like __ and __ mixed together" or "this sounds like (aphex/tuss/+10/dmx krew track) but different" and so on, and do not get any kind of personal connection to the music.

You could say the same for every single musician, including the ones that are known for having "his sound". For example: Take Burial: To me it sounds like an EL-B clone with Massive Attack type of production and vinyl crackle samples on top. As you can see, you can deconstruct everything into other stuff. Including Aphex's music, specially his early stuff.

yes i do the same thing with all of Aphex Twin's music how it sounds just like a redux of mid period Coil with little bits of Severed Heads, Cluster/Harmonia and Eno thrown in

he stretched the same ideas out 2 far and its 2 acidy but theres some good moments for certain

ok, nobody has a problem with your opinion. completely fine that you don't like it.

but why state it over and over and over again?

what is your problem ?

if you don't know monolith personally, or have some personal real life grudge to bear against him, or something like that.. then i don't know what the fuck you're still doing posting in this thread. you sad wanker!

it's a good album. get over it.

NME Radio mini review (paraphrasing) "Dave Monolith tried to invoke the spirit of The Tuss, instead the spiritual realm sent him the guy who made those fake Tuss tracks"

This is not my cup of tea, or glass of beer. A bit forgettable and weak, weak like shandy (made with Carling instead of Stella for example)

I shall leave it at that.

Yeah but usually we get good albums as well as the bad ones, whereas this year it's been two re-releases, Gerald Donald's weakest release ever, and Monolith, with Monolith coming at the end of the year. It sets it up as something huge, when it's really not something THAT special.

1999: Boku Mo Wakaran, Samurai Math Beats, We Are DMX, Lobster Tracks, Lactavent, Shipwreck

2000: Red and Blue Boxing, SuperUser, Onclements

2001: The Braindance Coincidence, You'll Never Get Anywhere By Spending All Day Playing Around With That Bloody Drum Machine, MyLoveILove, Wasted Sunday, Cut The Midrange Drop The Bass

2002: Vatican Nitez, '96 Drum n Bass Classixxx, Astrobotnia parts 1-3, Broken Toys' Corner

2003: Amen Andrews parts 1-5, Cylobotnia, Pressure, Rephlexions, Soundmurderer & SK-1

2004: Kerrier District, Cylob Music System 1 & 2, Collapse of the Wave Function, Grime 1 & 2

2005: Analord 1-11, Pop, Quantom Transposition, Wave:CD

2006: Authorized Clinical Trials, Voafose, Kerrier District 2, Sidthug, Pro 188, Amen Andrews vs Spac Hand Luke

2007: Acceptable Side Effects, Ceephax Volume 1 & 2, Project V, Eskel, Confederation Trough, Rushup Edge, Calabi Yau Space, Alright!

2008: R.O.B., Rodulate, Katabatic

2009: Boom Blaster, I.S.C., Plus Ten, D'Arcangelo The Album, Mental Union, We Miss You, The Shimmering Hour

2010: Wave Funk, Some Shit Saaink, Monolith Volume 1, new Analord tracks

2011: Welcome

lol, fair comment.

but i still think the tracks are pretty good.

it's not Tuss, and not meant to be! it's Monolith, and i like his style.

In the track 'euphorium' around 5:15 to 5:17 there is a voice that says the word euphorium waaaay back in the mix to the right ear.

sounds like it was said by the mortal combat announcer. Felt I'd share this little easter egg.

"You could always do a Thoreau and walden your ass into a forest." - chenGOD

I don't think that's a very fair assumption. That's more of a construct created by the consumers than those that are releasing it.

Tough crowd. Remember the bitching after releasing Drukqs? Or the Tuss releases? The Analords? The pattern is obvious. The trolling tiresome.

*watches clock...*

O, it's that time again

Are you fucking kidding me? You're honestly comparing this to Drukqs, and you're accusing people disappointed with Welcome of trolling?

Drukqs: timeless, intricate, beautiful, still holding up like it was new after 10 years

Welcome: basic, fun for a laugh and bit of dancing, already sounded dated on the day it was released.

It's not like Welcome is going to sound better with time, so that is totally ridiculous.
