murve, i've checked this last night. me and ex-voto played thru it in an hour or so: surrealist vibe, very pretty, especially graphically. eric satie soundtrack. kinda shallow, cos its (it's) short and not very text-heavy intheleast. but i'll still say it's a gem in a sea of tepid BS.

I have the exact opinion. I wish it went back further in time, past Mossadegh's involvement in the whole thing. That would've made the game longer, but I guess the whole basis of it was that you're following around his ghost.

Edit: Watched a bit of that vid, I forgot how nice the Satie goes with it. I'm so tired of hearing Gymnopedie in everything under the sun. I always preferred Six Gnossiennes.

A cyperpunkish game in which you use gadgets & rewire stuff to break into buildings and steal/wipe data:

Bumping this thread a bit, because the other video game thread has too many games I already know. I want some cool underground games.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Yume Nikki yet. It's a Japanese game where you wander around a girl's dreams and don't do much else. It's animated kind of like Cave Story but doesn't resemble it in almost any other way.

Definitely worth it. One of the best games I've ever played.

Make sure not to concentrate too much on getting the effects (you'll know what I mean). That's not really the point of the game. Or you could just play NASU the whole time.

Downloaded it. I like how aimless it is. It'll be nice to play when I'm stoned and have nothing to do.

I mentioned it in another thread, but Not Tetris 2 is fantastic.

If you enjoyed this game I'd definitely recommend the fan sequels Yume 2kki (which is more about exploration and is far less depressing than the original) and .flow (focuses more on horror and has possibly

). They're a fucking pain to install (it involves changing the computer locale if you're on a Unicode system) but if you're looking for similar style games it's worth investing the time for it.

If you also want games with similar atmospheres but more gameplay elements check out All Of Our Friends Are Dead / Au Sable, which are platform shooters with horror elements and Ao Oni (like the fangames it's a bastard to get working, there's an installation tutorial here), which plays more like the Clock Tower games but game wise it's a similar experience.

My Japanese classmate was just telling me about Ao Oni. I kept thinking she was talking about Oni, the Bingie game, because I don't speak Japanese and her English is not good, and so our only method of communication is broken Chinese.
