The only thing I don't like is Logic's built in wave editor. It's a fucking pain in the ass. If you cut up a sample into tiny bits and then want to reverse one of them then it'll reverse ALL the bits you've cut out.

yeah the audio editing functions and region editing of functions imo are far less intuitive and less quick than programs like Protools Nuendo and Cubase, .

but as far as routing and matrixing, I dont know of many programs as extensive as Logic. The environment is pretty cool if you want to get really hardcore

I love Logic but if RDJ was using it, he'd still be working on druqks.

Maybe someday they'll associate simple effects on regions as metadata rather than forcing you to bake the effect in every time. Make the arrange window interface a bit tighter and more like the piano roll and it'll be great.

If I'm cutting up regions, I always band select them and do a Convert Regions to Audio Files before I do anything out of habit. Too many times I've accidentally made audio edits only to realize I had the wrong audio file in the sample editing pane. This is compounded by a bug in Logic 8 where clicking on a region sometimes doesn't change the sample editing pane.

Most of the inbuilt plugin effects are pretty top notch. Despite it's flaws, I still think logic is great for those who make sample-collage/electro-acoustic kind of stuff where it often takes a bit of sorcery getting sounds to blend together nicely.

heh, I thought RDJ was using logic extensively but probably mixed it up with pro tools.

I love the clear sound of logic, prob. just pro tools can beat that.

Btw. if you guys are still using Logic 8 then you do yourselves a favour and upgrade to 9. I went from Logic 5.5 (yeah yeah yeah) to Logic 8 and I didn't really 'feel it', but then when I got Logic 9 I nearly creamed my pants.

I definitely plan on getting a new macbook and upgrading to Logic 9 when I finish this album. Looking forward to using convert to sampler and the drum replacer.
