Pretty excited, even tho the finale was probably my least favorite finale of all time, I loved the first two seasons. It’s kinda how I feel about x-files- I’m just glad when there’s new stuff from these worlds.

The guy that played “Anton Briggs” from the 3rd season was at a Wizard World comicon I went to a couple years ago (for being “Diggle” from Arrow). Anyways, I really wanted to tell him how much I thought the scene where he was recalling being “skinned” was an awesome performance. In the scene he says he heard his own voice screaming, like it was someone else’s, I thought it was really good acting. But there was this guy with a megaphone close by protesting gay marriage stuff and holding up Bible signs and all that. My son was terrified and wouldn’t go anywhere near, so I just walked by him and gave him a nod and eyed towards the protester. He looked at me with understanding and nodded like “yeah I know, that guys screwing up my shit”. I felt bad, nobody was going over by him because of it.

coroner.

i like crime series, and this is an easy watch. if you removed the slightly explicit (mostly gory) elements, which are there in the first series more than the others, it's very much like a daytime tv movie. a lot of the interesting threads and character traits or relationships are being slowly whittled out of the picture. the paranoia about childhood trauma is now downplayed, along with lots of other interesting stuff, too. what keeps me watching is serinda swan - she has a look i can only say makes far more sense with short hair than long.

It’s great, highly accurate, and shows how banal the immorality of the drug trade is.

I assume this was based on the book? ...which was great, must check it out.

It is based on the book, yes.

hahaha awesome! It really is an addictive show. I took a look back to refresh on S5 (there are SO MANY seasons) - that's a good one, and the season finale might be one of my favorite episodes ever. .. iirc they were considering making it the series finale at one point but... well, I'll let you get there.

We're on the last few seasons right now in my wife's marathon rewatch - the show ends really strongly, and it does some interesting things to open up the characters a bit, show some interesting growth, has some innovative directorial decisions. By that point you kind of get the feeling that they don't have to worry about ever getting cancelled, so they are able to try different things/do interesting one-offs....

Anyway, glad you are enjoying!

I'm getting pretty deep now, season 9 ish.  All I have to say is thank the lord for Dean, because Jared Padalecki is one of the worst actors on earth haha.  He is so fucking bad, almost makes it unwatchable, but Dean and Castiel keep me coming back.

Completely unmissable.

That shit was on USA for years, usually followed by Up All Night

Positive Metal Attitude

Au service de la France / A very secret service

A French Netflix show poking fun at the bureaucratic ineptitude of the French secret service and more generally at French history. Very funny.

Also does the Mad Men schtick were they ridicule 1960s attitudes about women, people of color and smoking except that they do it well, without any of the cringe worthy smugness that made Mad Men unwatchable.

Watching Sons of Sam on Netflix. Brilliant. Miles better than Night Stalker which was a huge letdown imo (why would I care about the cops marriage problems told by his wife! Lol)

So far (on episode 2) this is excellent. The occult side of the story definitely adds extra interesting ingredient. I’m a sucker for anything to do with Beelzebub.

I'm watching this too (Episode 3 now) and just finding it so sensationalist. Satanic panic hysteria all over this thing.

limited documentary series on netflix that attempts to explain david berkowitz was not the son of sam. only problem is that i'm not sure all parties involved were ready to go down that rabbit hole and you suddenly realize everyone has bitten off way more than they can chew.

Just finishing episode 3 now. It’s a fascinating story. Even if perhaps as you say sensational. The Process and Charles Manson link I’m a bit sceptical about, and finding the bible near the murder scene seems iffy. All makes for a great book (and now documentary) though. Perfect soundtrack as well.

I distinctly remember being 13 and incorrectly thinking this would be good to stay up late and masturbate to.  I probably still managed somehow.

Always a sign of a good program. I woke up at 2am this morning and had The Sons of Sam running through my head, took me a couple of hours to get back to sleep.

Started watching this, but it seems to go off the rails with satanic panic bullshit and wild theories by the second episode? Completely lost me, probably won't finish it.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

I think TM sort of disappeared down his own rabbit hole. If you see the second interview he did with Berkowitz this is clear, he’s losing sight of everything. It’s an embarrassing mess. Would of loved to visit that derelict Untermyer park sitting in ruins in NYC. Again things like that fire my imagination (I did a search on google maps this morning and did a bit Wikipedia on it this morning). All the conspiracy stories were a bit gaga but again I’m quite fond of a good conspiracy story. Throw in some Manson Family stuff and some English Witchcraft and I’m a happy bunny.

I'm watching the Third Day (HBO) instead. Folk horror/drama with a strong dash of innsmouth vibes (plus some psychedelic imagery) Only two episodes deep, but so far it's fingering a lot of pleasure points.
