No I’m not joking. Hated it at the time (I’m a Metal Head, like I would bother with something as perfectly cheesy as that ?) but now I’m enjoying every nostalgic minute of it ?

Trust me it’s more entertaining than you think it is.

Finished (re)watching all of community.

Old news but definitely some spark was lost after season 3, with some gems sprinkled throughout. S4 is not as bad as its reputation imo.

Didn't like some character development after binge re watching it, particularly Britta's.

Million places the movie could go, hopefully Harmon's brain can come up with something heartfelt and brilliant and humble.

im crying out loud re-watching party down... pretty sure this new season is gonna be a disappointment ಥ_ಥ

1 & 2 are pure lol geniusness...

3 it's not as bad as I thought, 1st ep is kinda weird because you see them 10 years later and it seems like it's out of steam but ep2 and 3 already start bringing some lols back... but it's only 6 eps so I don't think it will reach the same level of the 1st ones...

s3 of Picard ended out well enough. the last couple episodes seemed rushed, and there's plot holes in the story bigger than Jupiter's great red spot, but the good moments and story kept things together. nice setup for a future continuation without all the TNG characters that i hope they pursue a full series on.... (non-Picard....ish). wasn't expecting the stinger cameo at the end. not the first late episode cameo...the other very final minute cameo.

also watching ST: Strange New Worlds slowly which is surprisingly solid so far.

started watching some s3 Seinfeld and it's of course a classic. i forgot just how odd some of the points of story and filming choices and such are.

and watched a couple episodes of the Beavis & Butthead reboot just to see how bad it was going to be, pleasantly surprised to be wrong. it's not great or anything, but the show rarely was, it's just good dumb fun.

Finished “Hello Tomorrow”. Not genius, but pleasant enough to watch: nice sets, good acting, scripts with the drama in them nicely and functionally interwoven with the rest of the plot. Would have preferred

but that’s pretty much the only complaint I have.

Also: episodes are only half an hour. Well done.

Which new seasons / episodes would you recommend watching?

Hmm ? Honestly it's all kind of a blur of bad plots and good laughs, just binge some lol

this show grew on me a lot. a lot of the acting is great, Matthew Maher is knocking my socks off.

Finale Week:

Mandalorian - Good wrap up to S3, the fake Darth Vader was somewhat hilarious.

Picard S3 - Actually liked this ending better than Mando, they did turn the 'memberberries up to 11 for the last few episodes, but it paid off well. With a small twist to boot.

Snowfall - S6 wrapped up the story, for now. It felt like they purposely did not want to copy the ending of Breaking Bad, thankfully. It got a little meta in the finale, as they come upon a location shoot for Boys N the Hood, John Singleton's first film, he also created Snowfall. A spin-off set in the 90s is in the works, focusing on the birth of gangster rap in L.A.

Wu-Tang: An American Saga - Another good send-off wrapping up right after their tour for Wu-Tang Forever.

Mrs. Davis - This is nuts so far, very obtuse.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies - Was curious to see this because we did Grease in high school, and it's not too bad if you like musicals. A prequel set in 1954, five years before the musical/movie.

Barry S4 - Totally off his rocker.

Dead Ringers - Good so far, more of a window into the twins' state of mind, and a little less hallucinatory than the film, so far.

I was a bit disappointed by Hello Tomorrow tbh. It was nice still but not as compelling as I thought it could be.

Watched The Office UK eons ago, can't remember it aside from laughing a lot. I'm watching the US version for the first time, currently mid s03, and I'm laughing a lot too.

Watching The Power, I'm curious to see where it's heading towards.

I'm quite intrigued.

started Sopranos a couple weeks ago and been spending a hangover weekend binging, towards the end of season 3 now. Very solid and highly addictive stuff. The machismo guido sensibilities, which turned me off watching it back in the day, now feel pleasantly quaint and cozy.

From - Rotten Tomatoes

From - the TV series whose name makes it frustratingly difficult to google and find out more about, particularly when it's a show that invites so much watercooler talk and speculation.

Who knows if they will stick the eventual landing, what I will say is that I started this show on Monday and lost many nights of sleep because I couldn't stop myself from watching the next episode. It's like Lost but 100% more horror - kind of echoes of Stephen King in there too. It's not perfect, but it is very, very entertaining with some interesting character stuff going on in amidst the mind bending puzzle box shit.

First season is available to stream for free on Amazon now. Taking all my willpower to not not watch first ep of S2 (I'd much rather just wait for the season to be over and binge, b/c I hate the week to week suspense of shows like this. I'm gettin' too old for this stuff)

@T3551ER was literally going to write about this show. binged season 1 in about 2-3 days and already pulled the trigger on the first episode of season 2. no way i could they could leave me hanging like that despite the shows many *ahem* flaws

also, i agree about that title. WTF were they thinking?

just finished Hellow Tomorrow... I can't put my finger on it... I mean, technically speaking is 10/10... directing, set/costume design, photography, dialogue, performances... now, it's basically just an entertaining sunday afternoon soft sci-fi... there's no thrills, not much of a mystery, cliffhangers... even the comedy is pretty bland... the funniest character was the dislexic police dude... anyway I wasn't expecting anything so...

ha! It must be something in the air - I don't even remember how I heard about it but I get the feeling maybe it only recently became available on Prime? Totally glad I pulled the trigger though (yes, def some flaws, but ultra compelling/fun ride).

lolol - it's maddening. Maybe it's their secret plan to ensure people never figured out WTF is going on because it's impossible to find any research/discussion on it ^o^

EDIT: Is the first ep of Season 2 good?

EDIT 2: No, don't tell me

We tried From and even the wife, who is way less critical when it comes to tv shows than I am and who fanatically adored Lost, thought it was bad. Meaning to say it’s a YMMV thing, I guess.

We’re now continuing our Apple TV binge and started Foundation. First episode is promising.

i hadn't heard about this show either, and despite having prime i rarely ever watch anything on it. i randomly scrolled through one day and this was being "recommended" based on my previous choices. after watching about 2-3 episodes, i thought i'd stop and never watch it again but kept thinking about it so went back, and mainly because of something even you said. how "ultra compelling/fun ride" it is.

as to your question about the first episode of season 2; i'll let avery's triptych of facial expressions do all the telling  ?

anyone used to play twisted metal?  If this somehow generates enough attention for a new game it'd be worth it:

I didn't know Foundation was out finally! I'll have to watch that. Loved the book.

Don’t get your hopes up. Episode one was ok, ep. 2 already dialed the Hollywood “everything must be drama and if the source material doesn’t have any we’ll invent it” shit way, way up. Haven’t gotten to ep. 3 yet.

watched a couple eps, it's alright. Twilight Zoney vibes with a depressing af tone so far.

Cancelled all subscriptions. Weather is getting warmer, days are getting longer. More music less tv. More cycling less tv. More fishing less tv. More socialising less tv.

Baywatch, The Art That Made Us, Wolf Hall and Taboo all on iPlayer or ITV, that'll do ??️

No more couch potato until October :datboi:

i'm digging this!

With all the mayhem and tension ahead that the first episode seemed to hint at (and that Hoobastank track) it's gradually geared down and now gotten sort of middling here at episode 7. Hope things pick up and don't settle too much into melodrama
