Not really. That is a common misconception. If you want to, you can eat cheaper there than in most other cities... especially in LA (unless you count taco trucks).

Sorry I wasnt explicit enough, my conception of good food isnt the same as most people in America.

and portugal is an utter shithole. your point?

Thats not even a point. And its completely unrelated to what I said. Anyway, have you been to Portugal? Thats another point.

Btw I wasnt trolling, i genuinely think most food in NYC is overpriced unhealthy plastic food, even though it may not look like it to the less preocupied or experienced.

lol

If thats all you got to say in your defense then don't even bother you nasty troll.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

i always turn to uniqlo as a standard in clothing basics. that being said, you will find some sweet boutiques and shit in soho, if that's your thing.

aside from that...er...the city is your oyster?

might have a bit of this next friday! is the Glasslands a good venue to head over to?

glasslands is nice—a bit of a hike, but nice. closest stop is...what...lorimer L? the venue is right on the east river which is kinda neat if you're into things like that, and also immediately adjacent to another nice venue, 285 kent. glasslands serves liquor and has a small sort of balcony thing, so it's not difficult to get a nice view of the performers.

edit: footage i took of unknown mortal orchestra at glasslands

Thanks for the help/tips guys, had an amazing time.

Com Truise and Beacon were great at the Glasslands, but we didn't stay for all of it because we landed the night before and struggled to stay awake!! Really cool venue though.

We went across to Williamsburg a few times actually, and had some fantastic meals at Diner and St Anselms(sp?).

Otherwise we did a lot of the touristy stuff (Juniors at Times Square, Top of the Rock, Staten Island Ferry, loads of shopping). I didn't get to any record shops unfortunately but I'd spent far to much on sunglasses, shirts and Levi's so that was probably a good idea! Can't wait to go back, even if the subway is full for freaks and weirdoes who piss themselves at 3pm when you're heading to JFK... da fuck man!

Would recommend the Comfort Inn at Manhattan Bridge, reasonably priced and well kitted out and in a great location.

oh yeah and we went to see the Knicks (they beat the Bucks, even with Lin and Amare missing)... it was great, although as an English sports fan it's sometimes hard to take all the showbiz!! Did love seeing the fan win $10k on a free-throw, great stuff!
