Guest fiznuthian
I had never heard of Meshuggah before going to a Tool show, after Nothing was released. Tool was fun I guess, but seeing Meshuggah open warped something in my mind at the time. Metal music hasn't seemed the same since, and it's like I crave their sound and can't find anything like it. And shit like this, at ~2:40 -> [youtubehd]ChzWzkTwxIs[/youtubehd] Their musicianship is unreal.. so dark and mental. These dudes fucking slay live shows and are big scary swedes. Guest WNS000
I have really enjoyed that more natural drums sound on Koloss. Drums sound and their dynamics is the main thing why I enjoy the original Nothing release so much and why I don't really care for ReNothing. So after a bit of disappointment with Obzen's overproduction I was very glad to hear the band sounding more raw again. Music-wise, it is very good, but not their best imo (I don't really enjoy their homage to the more classic metal genres (first moments of The Demon's Name Is Surveillance and parts of The Hurt That Finds You First) I prefer the groovy stuff). Swarm is amazing and hypnotic. Love that track. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70863-meshuggah-new-album/page/4/#findComment-2399378 Share on other sites
modey
I still really appreciate this album because it's such minimalist, postmodern metal. I can't wait to hear what they come up with next. I love how they push the boundaries by stripping things back, rather than doing what other metal bands tend to do e.g. adding melodic vocals, more elaborate composition techniques etc. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide modey's signature Hide all signatures youtube | bandcamp | soundcloud | twitter | facebook 0F.digital Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/70863-meshuggah-new-album/page/4/#findComment-2399397 Share on other sites
