I think Time Tourist is better than Electro Soma :emb:

That makes two of us !

Count me in as well! Time Tourist is just wonderful; it's like the soundtrack to an amazing Japanese side-scrolling shooter on the Sega Saturn!

If you only have the mp3 or cd of Electro-Soma, check out this track that only comes on the

vinyl version.

My CD came with this track, though it's the Wax Trax North American pressing and they often received bonus tracks of some sort. Also, I hear a Brian Eno sample tucked away in there!

This, although it sounds more like Electro-Soma than probably anything else on the LP.

I recently heard 'Silicon Garden' on Plaid's 'Futura Connect' mix tape and it certainly blew me away. So much so, that I went and bought the 'Electro Soma' and 'Time Tourist' albums. 'Time Tourist' I find to be the better album although I'm really enjoying both. Tracks like 'VOID/ Comm', 'Gimp', 'The Silicon Garden (Flymocut) and Radiophonic Workshop are quite amazing and well worth checking out for anybody who hasn't. Very futuristic and mechanical sounding but beautiful at the same time.

VOID/Comm is one of the greatest tracks of IDM ever ever made. It's actually the perfect IDM track.

So much this it's untrue, VOID/Comm is perfect in every way, right down to the nostalgia triggering Blade Runner sample used throughout.

The rest of the album is great too, but this one track in particular remains one of my favourite pieces of music of all time, in any genre.

This thread is a bit of a nostalgia trip. Or rather, the music is.

For the people looking for more, be sure to check their remixes. There's two of them. A Phenonyma track and a track from As One. Both are awesome pieces of melancholic braindance. You can find them both on archives 7. But you deserve IDM karma points if you buy the original albums. (The first is on an ART ep, the latter a remix album called reflections on reflections. Both are essentials..)

Thanks for that, I'll check them out. IDM karma points… I laughed out loud at that!

The ART thing is a Redcell remix of Phenonyma's "Travellor", it's on the ART 5.1 12" - which curiously enough, I was playing earlier today. Both that and the ART 5.2 12" are worth hunting out if you don't have em - same set of tracks on each, but with remixes from the Black Dog, Stasis, Nuron, Future/Past as well.

B12 sit far too far under most peoples radar these days, a real shame. I always find myself digging out their 12s, to this day. Their quality control is off the chart, they've simply never had a bad day at the office.

Word was they have some more new music to come this year too :)

Unread replies

I started this 8 years ago.

I got my nice gold record of time tourist.

But I still listen to Dave Brubeck most weeks, its such an unreal tune.
