I think David Guetta is really really good as a producer, it just annoys me that all things pop in 2011 was David Guetta and people emulating his sound. I think it's good, but don't like everything sounding the same. Could be worse, maybe 2012 will be all skrillex and clones.

problem is most people who naively think this

A) think that they wont get used to the increased standard of living from making said income, and when money is expended wont keep selling out to make money to continue the elevated standard of living

B) have cognitive dissonance that sets in and they actually start to buy into theirr own hype, where at first you knew you were 'being commercial' now you exclaim from the rooftops 'man im just being myself'

C) what you 'want' becomes what people expect out of you and what you 'want' becomes what you want to do to get more money

it's a vicious cycle i've watched happen to many real people in large and even small ways. They do exist but people who knowinglinly are selling out just to make money to support their presellout dreams or artistic visions are becoming increasingly rare. The power of the status quo to chip away at your idealism is underestimated

He's hit-and-miss for me. I think "Memories" is great, nice and simple use of the piano, and you have to respect songs that get away with only having one part. "Sexy Chick" is fun, but the lyrics are cringealicious. "Without You" has a nice chorus with the Daft Punk three-note thing that comes in, but Usher is sooo embarrassing in that song!

What I want to know is, was Benny Benassi the first artist to popularize the compression-pumping that is now so ubiquitous? I think it's the new auto-tune:

Off topic but this is something I've observed happens more with undeserved achievements rather than earned ones, why?

To be fair, I read an interview with peter hook and he said straight out that he was a shit DJ and he didnt wear headphone because he was so bad at mixing he didnt even bother trying.

He's a good actor. The writers just went out of their way to give his character the most irritating character arc.
