Megaupload

You know the FBI is glee that this issue is in the digital realm. Let's imagine that megaupload was the world's biggest storage garage franchise. A lot of those units were being used for contraband, not drugs or guns or trafficked humans, but copies of major label records and DVDs of blockbuster films, whereas but many were holding private personal property including artwork they made not stored elsewhere. Without warning or warrant, the government just took all of it and arrested the owners of the storage facilities. Customers will likely never see their property again and they can't do a fucking thing about it. That's why this is so fucked up.

lol did that guy seriously use the highest grossing movie of all time as his example. Oh no they dled Avatar 21 million times. It made almost 3 billion dollars worldwide. I don't think any of the cameramen who worked on it has to worry.

lol, pwn!

i am hot shit ... that smells like baking bread.

Some pundit was on Which Way LA or some other NPR lite program on KCRW last night, talking about how movies must necessarily now be Avatar sized in order to attract a box office audience and overcome the bassline of piracy. Everyone took it at face value. It's fucking ridiculous. I was trying to link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King%27s_Speech via airwaves telekinesis to one of the other radio commentators, but it wasn't working.

I think thats a scam

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Police Swarm New Zealand Mansion in Arrest of Megaupload Founder Kim Dotcom

Kim Dotcom, the German-born founder of content-sharing site Megaupload.com, was found holed up with a shotgun as New Zealand authorities moved in to arrest him.

“When we first entered the property, Mr. Dotcom was not overly cooperative and in fact fled to what can best be described as a safe house, or a safe room,” said Detective Inspector Grant Wormald from New Zealand’s Organized & Financial Crime Agency.

“It took some time to get through the security measures that were in place and he was subsequently found in that safe room with a loaded shotgun resembling a sawn off shotgun.”

About 70 police, some armed, raided 10 properties and also arrested the Web site’s chief marketing officer, Finn Batato, 38, chief technical officer and co-founder Mathias Ortmann, 40, both also from Germany, and Dutch national Bram van der Kolk, 29.

New Zealand police seized millions of dollars worth of assets, which included luxury cars such as a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, from the group, dubbed the “Mega Conspiracy” by prosecutors. They also seized more than NZ$10 million ($8 million) from financial institutions.

for some reason the Megaupload story totally overshadowed that TVshack got shut down as well and the kid who ran it is facing extradition to the US.

TVshack unlike Megaupload hosted no content of it's own, it simply linked to other websites that hosted streaming video.

well the reason is that tvshack wasn't that widely known and it happened over a year ago.

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

i wasn't aware that it was shut down a year ago, but it is no coincidence that he's just now facing extradition

SOPA, Megaupload shutting down and the TVshack founder facing extradition, all happening within a month
