What about car rental? I'd love to drive the English countryside from London, if it'd only take 4 hours, that's nothing. I'm doing that drive from home to San Fran on Sat.

tricky without a credit card... but if you have one then to rent a small car over a weekend (friday - monday) should be in the region of £150 - £200, maybe a little less if you can find a deal... the drive wouldn't be that great in terms of scenery until you got a couple of hours outside london and off the motorway but the devon and cornish countryside is lovely.

Can an American rent a car in the UK? I mean I imagine the laws vary slightly and the whole driving the other side of the road and everything. Plus, we don't have licenses in that country. I might try to find a flight from Heathrow to Newquay.

most foreign driving licences are valid for use in the UK (and the rest of the world pretty much) for 6 months i think. so long as your not staying perminently you don't need a special permit or anything.

edit: actually it's apparently 12 months...

Provided your full licence or international driving permit remains valid, you may drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes and with up to eight passenger seats. You will be able to drive for up to 12 months from the date of coming to GB. However, you may only drive large vehicles which have been registered outside GB and which you have driven into the country.

Yeha, I think I'm just going to get a flight from Heathrow to Newquay. I would like to see the English countryside though.

ldon->cornwall by flight or train. can anyone provide any recce` ?

One of the best train journeys you can do if you're looking out of the window.

I'd do pretty much anything to avoid a plane these days.

thanks for the qualified input -

Just make sure its a direct train, you don't want to be changing or going stop via coach.

Ok, so it is possible I might have 1 or two spots and I was just curious if anyone is still interested? I can't confirm at this moment, but I'm leaning towards 1-2 spots. (people dropping out on me)

I'd loooove it how much is it?

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

I know we kind of discussed it before but keep me in mind, no promises tho still trying to figure out details

Ok, I will. Yeah, we haven't ironed out all the details either. We still are trying to decide to drive to Newquay from Heathrow, take a train or fly. Right now the flights I found from heathrow to newquay round trip are running around 1k. The flights from the USA to Heathrow are around 1200. So, we might decide to take a train, but then we would want to get there like a day early for all the traveling.

No way, you're not looking in the right places for flights. You need to be looking at TripAdvisor or Kayak or British Airways and Virgin Atlantic sales, from US to London. I've still got my camping ticket but could upgrade to caravan if you're in need of peeps.

I'm from Texas, but like I said 1 or 2 possible spots and PBOD and SPD^2 are both sitting higher up in the line than you at the moment.

I think 6 person caravan was like 1700 bucks or so. 1 spot is around 280 or so.

I looked at skyscanner.com and found a lot of way cheaper flights from Heathrow to Newquay, but none on the sites you suggested. They are on British Airways though which is weird because they didn't show on the British Airways sites.
