I've loved Canada and Canadians for yonks, if only because of Nomeansno.

I can't speak for all of Canada, but Trailer Park Boys is actually a disturbingly accurate depiction of poor neighbourhoods in the Maritimes. Well, maybe there aren't quite so many shoot-outs, but the abundance of dope, malapropisms, & general greasiness is spot on.
