Autechre Nigel Thornberry covers

Just wondering what people think of the Nigel Thornberry remixes that have been floating around.

Apparently it started with this Katy Perry remix:

Quite recently, this meme has been revived with GIFs of various images with Nigel's face pasted over them.

...resulting in covers of tracks by Lady Gaga:

...and even Autechre:

So, what's your general opinion? Is it a good thing that people are making their own remixes, and getting at least a basic feel of audio manipulation and production? What does this say about the YouTube community?

I have no idea what this meme is or where it comes from. But I got the general sense of how it works from the first two, and lolled at the autechre one.
