A few years ago I was with a bunch of friends at a ranch home out in the country. We used to go on weekends every once in awhile to "get outdoors" and get drunk, grill some food, shot some guns off, get stoned and stargaze, etc. It was my buddy's parents old house, and besides an old tv there's a handful of random CDs left there. Once, after playing out some 90s new age album for shits and giggles, someone found the Bodyguard soundtrack and cranked "I Will Always Love You" on full volume. We proceeded to sing along with it over and over again. I now have this distinct yet really hazy memory of the event, which was made more surreal by the fact that someone turned the lights off and lite candles before hand. Remembering it is like recalling some strange but pleasant dream. So for that, thank you Whitney Houston. After all, I mostly remember you through Maya Rudolph impersonations (she's hosting SNL next weekend actually) and that Simpsons episode with Mark Hamill.
