they don't have a big fanbase. you have to consider they are one of two professional clubs in a city of 3 million people (the other one is fc union berlin) and they don't get their stadium full of people, most matches are watched by about 50.000-60.000 people (74.000 would fit in).

Well, if they normally get 50-60.000 spectators, that´s among the higher average in Europe, and more than some CL regulars. It´s about the same numbers as Milan and Inter have had the latest years. I think I paid about the same for tickets at San Siro as I did at Olympiastadion, so I guess it must be something of a sponsor thing. To compare Hertha to Milan/Inter may be unfair, but I can´t really understand how a team with 50.000+ spectators played in the 2.Bundesliga just one year ago.

Rome and Paris are also two big cities that's not had that succesful football clubs. Even though that's seems to be changing. London isn't the most successful city (trophy wise) in the Premier League either.

Just because a club is located in a big city doesn't necessarily equal automatic succes.

there's a whole theory about how the seven or so biggest cities in europe have never won a european cup. Rome, Paris, London, Istanbul, Moscow, Athens, Berlin. I think the closest is Madrid coming in at maybe 8th.

I have to agree with the Kagawa hype. One of Europe's most exicting players and definitely Dortmunds best player since Götze god injured.

Wonder how long before they will have to reset this clock on Imtech Arena in Hamburg.

They are very proud of have been playing in the Bundesliga for so long. I think that's one the reason the players are playing so poorly at the moment. They are so afraid to get relegated.

Or maybe it's because they god rid of their best players (Piotr Trochowski, Joris Mathijsen, David Rozehnal, Eljero Elia, Jonathan Pitroipa, Van Nistelrooy, Ze Roberto) and replaced them with Chelsea rejects.

Anyway. They seem to be fucked.

It was one of the greatest moments in football history, Robben has been shit all game (he was kind of responsible for the Dortmund's goal, kept Lewandowski offside) then he dived to get a penalty in the 85th minute or something and he missed it, Subotic went mental. Dortmund win the game and probably the title.

Bananas wtf?

They used to throw bananas at Oliver Kahn. They revived the tradition with Neuer because he was a Schalke player.

Congratulations Dortmund, what a team of football they have there.

Christ man, ease off the booze - your sentences are impossible to parse. lol

Seriously though - Dortmund, fucking excellent. Will they be able to keep their side together? I hope so - they'll have a better season in the CL this year.

I think they can keep their players. Götze has extended his contract.

if Real Madrid or someone bids a insane amount of money for Kagawa, I think he might be hard to keep. But other than that, I think they will keep their current squad together. And don't forgot Reus is coming.. They become even better next season.

As long as Reus can integrate into the team. Kagawa I think will stay - I know there are rumours about him coming to United (mostly for business - with Park again, we can't afford to lose the Asian market - although because Kagawa is Japanese, Korean people will stop supporting United lol) but I don't think he will leave.

Really though, their team play has been a joy to watch.
