Even since I was a kid I remember having dreams of apocalyptic events - gigantic tidal waves, the sun carshing into the earth, etc.. Usually these were accompanied with an intense feeling of relief / release. So, for most of my life, yeah, I've pretty openly hoped to see the end of the world (but, really, mostly in a catclysmic way - not in a "slow death" kind of way which is probably what will happen to humanity).

Anyway - thanks for the heads up on that book! I also really have always loved post-apoc stories (the Stand, for example, is triff) and this looks ace. Will pass along to a good friend who has a similar taste for things.

I've actually thought a lot about how you could get on and survive in a post-apocalyptic world. There's a whole forum about that stuff called zombie squad. They use zombie apocalypse as a metaphor for anything that would cause stable government and civilization to collapse. I wouldn't call myself a preper though, somebody who hordes supplies or anything.

i would totally horde tons of supplies if i had a place to put them and they didn't go bad quickly. i would feel pretty fucking dumb if i'd been doing it my whole life for no reason though.
