Guest SecondaryCell
I'm wanting to experiment with running the Pi as a dedicated Sauerbraten server that I can leave running 24/7. With Sauerbraten the server is very light with most of the heavy processing happening client side. Plus the power consumption will be minimal and I can run it headless tucked away in a corner somewhere. And Sauebraten runs incredibly fast on Linux anyway. http://sauerbraten.org/ Also wonder if it will run Apache. foresense
oh btw, I'm totally going to hook this to my old television to watch movies on it with xmbc, maybe add some dosbox oldschool stuff, music collection + some nice speakers. arch linux. would be really nice to have a dedicated machine for media and nerding around.. want to hook my PS2 controllers onto it somehow, probably some USB converters for it. spratters
Finally ordered mine yesterday. Looking forward to get it, I think, in up to 4 weeks. Just gotta think what distro I'm gonna put on there. Just got the power cable with it. I'll probably make a case for it myself. spratters
I'm still thinking of a project to do with mine. I'm studying for a Comptia Linux exam right now so it's been useful for my studying but I do want to make a use for it. A media centre sounds good but I won't really use it much I wouldn't think. Just keep experimenting, I'm sure you'll figure out a use for it. A common use for it is as a 'cloud' server for your music/films/porn so you can access stuff from anywhere Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide oscillik's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72174-raspberry-pi-35-computer-on-a-card/page/4/#findComment-1858359 Share on other sites

foresense
just got a portable keyboard for it, and was running the Raspbmc distro this afternoon... I'm impressed at how much I could get done with just a few hours work.. it's not working smooth yet, but it's pretty cool to browse my youtube watch later list with it.. tried watching a movie with it and it went very well, but halfway through it decided it needed to do an update and rebooted.. gonna install archlinux ARM now, see what that's like. the XBMC package in the default distro is currently undergoing some sort of update soo let's see what archlinux is like. definetly will install android when they get an image out there Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide foresense's signature Hide all signatures Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72174-raspberry-pi-35-computer-on-a-card/page/4/#findComment-1858615 Share on other sites
