The future! NSFW:

Seriously though, this idea makes me pretty uncomfortable too. But it seems to be the direction technology is taking us and I don't think that there is really much that can be done about it, barring absolute economic collapse/apocalypse. Even then i doubt the chaos itself would slow it very much, as i think it would likely reorder itself fairly quickly. There would need to be a significant reduction of the population, making specialization as it is today impossible.

I'm starting to see technological progress more and more as an entity unto itself for which we are merely cells whose interactions ultimately are driven by the growing needs of this mega organism, with the purpose of furthering its evolution.

i think there are gonna be swarms of nano drones when we're old, bringing us coffee and the newspaper, playing the piano and whiping our ass

god, i can't wait to finish school so i can get the fuck out of this country. not liking its slow descent into the maw of totalitarianism.

I'd love to hear your game plan for moving to another country.

It's possible, but not that easy. Especially for a kid right out of high school. Considered visas, and jobs, and all of that? How about speaking another language? There's not really many english speaking countries that are much better, or at least aren't far behind the problems we have here. Not many countries are going to say "yes, come on in, all of you unskilled people, take jobs that could go to our own citizens!"

Why not stay and fight for what you believe is right, instead of fleeing to a magical "other" place where all of your problems disappear?

Sorry, not trying to be harsh, but I've heard people say that so many times, and it comes of as both not really well thought out, and also kind of selfish.

wait until a 747 crashes into one in midair or when one of them falls from the sky and takes out a house in bumble screw Ohio...

not sure I really care about drones flying around anyway to be honest. they have much bigger things to be looking for than me sitting by a fire smoking a stoagie after too many beers and crankin some tunes on a summer night in my backyard.

you are assuming that there is some "bad guy" out there that their time is better spent on. what if that "bad guy" is actually just an activist trying to prevent abuse and corruption?

i'm pretty sure i could get a student visa for grad school and then figure out employment after that with relative ease. i'm thinking canada, but they're showing some right-wing extremism lately so i'm not entirely sure.

also, i don't feel like wasting my time fighting for what i believe in. i am not rich enough to actually affect politics in any appreciable way, nor do i wish to become a lawyer, judge or politician. i think instead of waiting my entire life for the united states to get its shit together, i might just move to a place that already does. is that so wrong?

realistically though, i'll probably end up staying here unless they really amp up the surveillance state bullshit (like orwellian levels, that's not cool).

as long as the abuse isn't me and my gin and the corruption isn't my liver, I'm cool with it.

Because you will lose. I don't blame anyone for wanting to get out.

leaving the country because of drones? lol, they will be wherever you go too. they are watching everyone else much closer than they are watching themselves.

Canada IMO sadly isn't really far behind and what you want to escape is gaining momentum here pretty quickly.

Really? No one cares about this? Ya'll just think I'm paranoid?

Yea, except the drones will be up and at 'em more than helicopters. Read somewhere that 30,000 is the goal amount to have in the skies.

Here's a link that backs that up. There are a bunch though. http://digitaljourna.../article/319564

You're not paranoid, its just that most people are stupid and indeferent.

again, i don't really hate skrillex as much as i hate the people that think that sort of music has any sort of integrity. i try to be open minded, and a lot of the time i employ a "well, each to his/her own" attitude towards personal preferences such as music taste and who knows, maybe it is original in its own way, sorta like a drawing by an autistic kid.

Ha, all of this. I can't speak any other language besides English anyway, so that really limits my choices.

And no, I don't want to leave the country just because of drones, it's the drones in addition to all of the other shit I don't like about the U.S.

Cameras will be absolutely everywhere in the future that much is obvious. There's no point being bothered about it because it's a done deal. What is important is how we manage this future where everything is captured. We need to focus on people and governments and their intentions.

No. That's not a truth. Stop resigning about everything, do something about it. You really want to give the power of judgement into a machine? Do you want to be surveilled 24/7 ? Jesus christ

Yea, I know. For the record, I'm probably not going to ever leave :cisfor:

Do they have Grease Trucks in Canada?

Well, in fact don't do anything. Americans have absolutely no influence in the future of their country, or its representants. I just hope Europe doesnt fall to in the same faith, at least no this bad.

I respect your feelings though for the record. I used to feel like that but I don't anymore.

I think they have grease trucks but i'd be willing to bet they are actually zambonis that just sell canadian bacon and poutine.
