I'm not sure it was trying to be philosophical. I found it more of a mental exercise; watching so many action scenes, but having to put them into layers and stages to form a chain of events. It was like a Sudoku.

There weren't any clear philosophical themes as far as I'm aware, which is pretty ironic considering the story frequently boasts about going 'deeper'.

It was fine. Good in the way that it challenged the audience to stay with it. I'd take 10 Inceptions over a Transformers movie that just throws screeching metal at you.

But yeah, as alco says, it's just a heist movie but with a plot that makes anything possible (but that very little was actually possible).

James Bond in a dream. An hour too long. Rubbish.

I really enjoyed this film, like alot. but its one of those things where a core audience overpraises and overhypes it so the more well versed viewers go in looking to critique it instead of taking it for what it is.

but yeah, I think this is a great film. a great mainstream, action film.

I had this argument this week actually. I was countered with an incredulous "you've never had a dream like that? One so realistic?"

The majority of my remembered-dreams are murky, sweaty and almost completely off-the-wall in terms of plot.

i hope christopher nolan does a straightforward gritty noir film again in the future, something like following. that was a great movie. i loved memento too. he does hollywood flicks well, but they're still hollywood flicks. WHERE YO INTEGRITY AT CHRIS

I didn't like this movie, i fell more a sleep then they did

huge disapointment

watching a hugely hyped action flick from the guy that had only recently made the two Batman movies, angry that there was too much action and that producers didn't instead funnel 180 million dollars into the next David Lynch film.

I was waiting and waiting for Ellen Page to rape someone and it just didn't happen. Isn't this a movie about dreams?

In any other director's movie Ellen Page and Tom Hardy would have been having so much intercourse.

Edit: for a mainstream Hollywood movie, the sexless aspect was pretty refreshing. But it really does feel like Nolan's universes are unnaturally rule-bound and sterile.

I'm not trying to complain about Inception, though; for what it is I thought it was enjoyable and, yeah, much better than something like Transformers.

As much as Inception was refreshing for it's lack of standard "eye candy" I'm a little worried that Nolan is incapable of writing for women and that Catwoman will probably such as a result. It's already borderline shit picking Anne Hathaway, but meh, we'll see.

whats wrong with Anne Hathaway? Ive seen her give some amazing performances that I never would have thought her capable of.
