Guest Lindrum Larry Cocopipe
Xmas day of 1994 I would have been 13 years old at the time and I woke up to three amazing gifts. Donkey Kong Country for the snes, my first ever cd player for my bedroom and Jungle Mania 2 on double cd. I played that game with the jungle mania playing in the background on repeat for such a fucking long solid block of my life and it is one of the fondest memories I have to this day. Donkey Kong Country is still probably my favourite game ever, Jungle Mania 2 has my favourite jungle track ever (brockwild) and the game also came with a promotional compilation cd of various artists. One of the tracks on that cd was Creep by Radiohead. It was the first time I had heard Radiohead and they quickly became my favourite band. I own almost 700 full live concert recordings such is the love I have for the band. I want to pay tribute to Xmas of 94 and all that it brought into my life. Fucking amazing! Guest some letters
Xmas '89 for me. Seven years old. My uncle's friend (who was also a friend of Jeff Minter) had donated his old Atari 520ST to my parents as they wanted to get me a computer. Computer came complete with a huge box of floppy discs containing games, demos, various art and music software and a slideshow of softcore porn. Guest Lindrum Larry Cocopipe
I guess the fond memories I have are actually mostly 1995. Its just that it was xmas day of 94 that those things came into my life Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72338-xmas-1994/#findComment-1772258 Share on other sites

I remember my mum getting me a 2nd hand nes when i was about 10 i think. had a bunch of games. it was fucking exciting to get given so much at once at that age. my boy probably had 50 days like that by the time he was 6 or 7 and it seems to mean very little to him. i feel very old saying this but kids really dont appreciate what they have now. baph
I think I got a Sega CD for Xmas 1994. Could have been 1993. It was one of those portable Sega CD systems that had a Genesis/Mega Drive slot built right in but you could run it off battery power and use it as a portable audio cd player, making it effectively my first CD player too. Somebody/ my mom's boyfriend's son stole it from me around 2000 and life has been terrible ever since. I think I also got my first electric guitar in 1994. This makes it more likely that the Sega CD was 1993. Regardless, Sonic Boom Edited March 10, 2012 by baph Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/72338-xmas-1994/#findComment-1772266 Share on other sites

Every so often we would swap consoles for a week and i would just play cobra command. that was a lot of fun, i got good at that. Guest disparaissant
tie fighter was SO GOOD. christmas 93 i convinced my mom that my dad (who kind of liked flight simulators) REALLY NEEDED a joystick so that he i could play ms flight simulator x-wing. and she bought it. it was a good time. 95 brought descent though. oh god descent was the best. Guest Lindrum Larry Cocopipe
It really is difficult to match the pure joy of those childhood gaming times. I think about it a lot. I am a very nostalgic kinda person but they were special times. The xbox live experience with the quality of games now is incredible and everything I ever hoped for in gaming growing up and now its a reality it is everything i knew it would be but somehow it doesn't compare. I think maybe a game truly catches the imagination of a child much better than it does an adult. Also when I played games as a kid, the game was all that mattered at that moment and i was truly involved in it. Now a game is just a fun distraction from responsibilities and the brutally fucking harsh reality of life. Guest abusivegeorge
I too, recieved Donkey Kong Country in the XMAS of 94, but I was just 7. I still have it and my snes in full working order and played it not long ago, by far the hardest game I've ever played and yes, probably the best! Guest kokeboka
I remember getting my first CD player in '94, as well as my very first two CD's. At around that time I got my Amiga 600 and Civilization (my mom thought it was a clever idea to get me an educational game) - been in love with that game ever since. Games like Sensible Soccer followed later. I never got a SNES, but I recall lusting for one...
