I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

I can't say I'm very good at it, at least compared to the people I try to emulate I look extremely stiff. I have gotten compliments from strangers on my dancing before though.

I only became interested in dance last year after I decided to cut out WoW (that shit takes ALL of your free time). Since I already had an interest in house music (then mostly minimal house, now more deep stuff) I tried to find some moves to copy from youtube videos, and to my excitement I found many actual tutorials instead of just showcases. Turns out house dance is an established type of street dance in the same way breakdancing is. Since then I dance in my hallway (where I'm lucky enough to have a full body mirror) and go out on the rare occasion someone decides to throw a EDM night around here.

This is the kind of stuff I'm trying to emulate:

That's Ejoe, in my opinion the best house dancer. It's not a showy video, but it gives an idea of the smoothness of the footwork that I like about house dance.

yeah i think so. as long as the music isn't too spazzy and i'm not too drunk. people i go out with often take the piss out of other peoples dancing to me. i assume that's because they respect my dancing. some people have said i'm a good dancer, often get high fives from strangers but that might just be because i look like i'm having fun. i don't do anything that special though but definitely more than just moving. edit: i think i've improved over time, if i see someone dancing in a way i like, i'll copy it for fun

i like dancing but i'm not good at dancing with other people. too many men think that dancing requires my ass in their crotch--it does not.

a girl did that to me (well, put her ass in my crotch) recently. little bit awkward because it's a bit of a lame thing to do. it was also nice though, because i am a man.

Once at a party I saw two drunk guys dancing in the middle of the dancefloor and their moves were so disordered and random, they were kinda throwing their arms and legs in every direction while jumping. That was very funny and at this moment I thought it was the best dance ever because for me dance is mainly about letting of steam.

Also the concert at which I danced the hardest was the last one form Ceephax I saw and It was simply crazy.

yeah i saw a guy dancing like that (i may have danced like that before, maybe not) on his own and then he tried to climb into a mirror.

the club i went to on friday night is switching to mostly House music nights, because they've had two people die there recently.. i heard that it from mental dancing on the upstairs bit.. guess they got shoved off and fell on the dance floor below. i suppose it makes sense, that kind of thing probably wouldn't happen with a House crowd.

yeah ceephax and bogdan raczynski make me dance like a retard, don't need a breakbeat for that =)

I get infected with rhythm, even on the tube I have to move my body when I listen to music. I go hard on the dance floor.

I saw my dancing after a boilerroom gig and I was shocked to see that I looked uncool, in my world I'm totally the coolest person ever.

I'm shit at dancing, I always end up getting far too much into it and end up looking like a drunken version of Thom Yorke. If I ever go out I'm almost guaranteed to get at least a couple of people come up and take the piss joining in. It always makes me laugh when people do shit like that so I just encourage them, plus people tend to respect you a bit more if you don't take yourself too seriously in those sorts of situations. It gets a bit strange though when you get chatted up because of your dancing. I'd enjoy the attention if it wasn't for the fact the girls that do it always try to do that unsexy crotch rubbing business. When you dance like me, successfully aiming for the crotch just isn't gonna happen.

I can do footwork fairly well, but other than that I am generally an embarrassment on the dance floor. especially if I try to dance sober.

The last time I tried to do footwork I nearly got kicked out of the club after my shoe flew across the room and hit some poor bloke in the face.

You see some really funny dancing at goa parties. There are some gems in this video here, especially the part around 7 mins in when a guy gets entangled in the decor =)

I grew up in the moshpit, smashing it up to Slayer/Motorhead etc so I never needed to really dance. Then moved onto gigs like Radiohead, Pixies etc. Never needed to dance then either. Parties/discos? Well the music is generally shit, so no need to dance, just drink beer and kick balloons about. Nightclubs? full of poseurs, no thanks prefer a pint down the pub.

The whole concept of dancing freaks me out to be honest, never really got with busting moves on a dance floor in front of people. Somthings I am very self-conscious of and dancing is one of them. Perhaps because I never grew up with it.

Now I look at a line-up like Bangface and Bloc and I know I cannot dance for the life of me. Just get some pills down my neck and Bob's your uncle!!! Happy days

I like dancing but when younger was always too crippled by self consciousness to dance.

As a teenager and up till my mid 20s I found it endlessly depressing that so much socialising and partner-finding was based around dancing in places where it was so noisy that you couldn't hold a conversation.

Now I'm well past 30 and thankfully dancing is off the agenda in most social situations.

I've had a great time at Five Rhythms though - mainly because of the friendly non-competitive vibe, and that however silly I felt, there was always someone doing something much sillier.

I'm not happy at electronic gigs unless there are people dancing, myself included. I'm probably not a very good dancer but I don't give a fuck, I do it anyway. I've been told by people to calm down at dnb gigs, haha.. if I've had a few drinks I tend to go a bit crazy.

I also love making people dance. Looking out into the audience and seeing people moving to my music is pretty amazing.

sometimes i just make an hour mix of stuff and dance by myself for fun. i actually kind of accidentally got really fit from doing that a while back

I need to do this. Then again, some of my recent friday night solo drinking and record listening sessions have resulted in dancing.

Going out to a club is all about feeling the music, letting your hair down and having a good time.. whether your any good at dancing or not shouldn’t bother you for a second. The thought of going to a club now with everyone just chatting watching the DJ or artist, trying to look cool and not dancing fills with me sadness and dread.. probably why i don't go out anymore.

Just enjoy yourself... that's the point!

some people enjoy standing around & watching more than dancing.
