its a fucked up story and polanski is a fuck up as well, but let's not go around calling people rapists. it's a strong word. same as pedophile (people call him that too). we don't really know how it all came about.

Ok sorry, STATUTORY rapist... gosh, so pedantic!

chris brown is a shitty human being but frankly it's weird how white people have had such a huge, visceral reaction to him winning grammys but dont really care when whiet assholes win rewards.

i mean

seth rogen said at the oscars that people like chris brown wouldn't be let within 100 yards of the oscars, conveniently ignoring the fact that sean penn (who beat his wife so badly he was charged with a felony) was in the audience and that roman polanski (raped a thirteen year old, twice.) has won awards from them.

it's just such a racist double standard

edit: unless seth rogen meant black people wouldn't be allowed within 100 yards of the oscars because that's probably at least partially true

Its easier to hate Brown because he is far more famous than Sean Penn. His music and face was all over the place before he beat the shit out of the one. Also, its easier because his music is shit and sean penn makes good music.

Implying that everyone hates him more cause he's black simply isnt true. Im sure theres plenty of racists but id say a lot of people just hate him cause hes an arsehole.

Also, that video is lol.

you can't just defend him and run away. the guy's a rapist - he admitted it. paedo is arguable, just about.

i don't want this to turn into this really nasty discussion. i don't want to look like i defend him, even.

if he admited to it, then ok (don't remember this happening). and i'm not saying he's innocent or anything, it's just not right to call someone a rapist just like that. unless it's proven true. that's all.

he flat-out admitted that he drugged and had sex with a thirteen year old.

her testimony against him was that he got her fucked up on champagne and quaaludes, started going down on her, and fucked her in the ass all while she kept telling him she did not want to.

ROMAN POLANSKI PLEAD GUILTY TO THIS.

there is no argument against the fact that he is, in fact, a rapist. he is an admitted rapist.

well, in feminist circles it's certainly the fact that he's black. lots of racist white girls out there. pisses me off.

well, then your problem is just with racisim. I can still hate Chris Brown because I already hated chris brown because of his shitty music. Im not a big fan of feminists either to be honest.

Just realised I said music instead of film w.r.t. sean penn.

i like feminists but frankly there is this MAHOOSIVE problem with not acknowledging intersectionality and how discrimination affects people differently and BLAHBLAHBLAH

and i never said my problem WASN'T with racism, there's just this stupid double standard. i mean even from the other side, white wimminz don't haev THEIR bloated bruised faces published on TMZ, because TMZ has a modicum of respect for white people.

ITS ALL RACIST EVERYHTING IS RACIST

I like Chris Brown.

He is getting a stoopid amount of hate, the internet is partially to blame for that. But I've no sympathy for someone who wants the reek all the benefits of being famous and then whine about it when people start commenting on his life.

Feel bad for Rihanna though, she didnt need any of this shit. Maybe America is just a really racist place.

The main problem with Chris Brown is that he's being marketed as a tween idol / heartthrob / god of romance, and everyone knows he beats women. It's not racist, it's just fucked up.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

what dis said... he's a rapist in the same way that someone who killed is a murderer. in my opinion he's a paedo* too cos he knew she was a minor and exploited her... i suppose it can be argued that he isn't on grounds that she looked/acted older than her years. however, an old guy who enjoys his 50 year old wife dressing up as a school girl is not therefore a paedo... but a minor who dresses/acts older is still a minor.

God dammit, you're actually right.

I guess the reason I like that he is hated so much is that he, like most pop musicians, is basically just a children's entertainer. so I think its all kinds of wrong that the kids know that this dude beat up his girlfriend but they are still being told to look up to him. Not that I'm excusing Penn or Polanski, but at least the kind they don't market their whole persona and public image directly to children. I'm blaming the record labels here.

Also, Will Smith's daughter (who's that pop singer who's like 15 or something) said on twitter that she thought that it was wrong that he beat up Rihanna, and then her record label took that comment down. Personally I think that's all kinds of fucked.

When there's money to be made, all is forgiven. Also, we should be less racist.

Also, your paraphrasing of Seth Rogan took it a little too far out of context. He compared the fact that the producer for the Oscars was fired for using a slur, whilst The Grammys invited Chris Borwn to perform twice since he beat up another nominee. The "100 Yards" was actually said in regards to the producer, not Brown. So, even though you raise valid points, the Seth bit had less than nothing to do with them. He just made a Chris Brown joke and a film award ceremony.

I think people hate on Chris Brown more than other "celebrity scumbags" at least partially because he's black. In addition to that his music sucks. Still, one does get the sense that people take explicit joy in hating him specifically, probably for a combination of mainly woman beating, race, shitty art, and a way to take out their anger for their own miserable situations and jealousy of having completely untalented rich cunts making music that gets blasted in their ears every day whether they want to hear it or not.

I've never been able to fully reconcile my love for Chinatown with the whole rape thing. I just can't make any sense of it. I could use some help. I don't think one has to hate his movies for his actions, considering films are a conglomerate effort. I don't have to hate Jack Nicholsons performance ,for instance.

Still, WTF. Also, remember Polanski's wife and his child were brutally murdered/slaughtered before the rape, which does add a sense of something else to it all.

yeah this has to be relevant in that he maybe had a reason to be messed up in the head but it's no excuse to sodomise a girl.

polanski lived his early years during ww2 in an abusive, random family who were complete strangers to him. his ww2 adventures were more akin to 'painted bird' than anything else. this is what fucked him up, not sharon tate murders. if anything, it made it escalate. i really doubt he's capable of knowing what is right and what is wrong, especially in his years of drugs abuse. i'm not trying to defend him, it's just that it;'s a really sad case in general, with far too many layers.
