When I was in SoCal last month I was amazed at how cheap Subway was compared to the UK or Aus. I also found it entertaining that they offered 'cilantro' (coriander) as a topping.

I don't ever recall seeing cilantro as a topping, ever, in any Subway I've ever been in - and I was in California when the first Subway in my area opened! Must be a new thing.

I just went to subway and there was much cilantro. Probably because most of the people here say they are going to El Soobway

I must check this out. But my area is kind of hood, so if they have cilantro, it'll probably be labeled "weird lettuce" or something

Speaking of, I have to fucking punch the sub assembler people in the tits and cocks to stop them before they put American "Cheese" or six pounds of that shredded BS iceburg lettuce on everything. Goddamnit no, I want something that has a flavor in my sandwich, and let me answer your question before you fucking put it on my fucking sammich.

I don't like subway much, but there's nothing much else in walking distance from my office that isn't terrible.

Whenever I say the word 'subway,' I'm usually referring to the underground system of transit rather than a sandwich shop. These often get confused for one another when speaking to those who live outside of a city.

Where I'm from the hispanic gentleman working behind the counter would just hold his hands up in the air and say, "Mi no know.". All while shaking his head no and trying to get his coworkers attention.

Not a single one up here does. Though, it is a franchised company.

The one down at uni has always been good to me.

If you like cilantro on your sammiches, go get a banh mi at a Vietnamese restaurant instead. They're cheaper than subway and not too hard to find these days, and they actually taste like food. F subway. That said, I don't have one of those close to my office either.

I would if I could.

I work in Los Angeles but the only putatively Vietnamese thing within walking distance for my 30 second lunch breaks is actually a Korean restaurant pretending to be Vietnamese and it's pretty bad.

I have 17 Korean BBQs within walking distance but they're all distinctly 'meh' and way too slow/pricey for daily lunch. Come to think of it, of all the good Korean food I've had, none of it has been in Koreatown.

Chinatown in LA is similarly shitty.
