Autechre Quaristice -"Versions"

I am an utter neophyte here at this site and I am also somewhat new to "Autechre".What fascinates me about these guys is that i cannot figure out some of the complexities of their later work i.e. the non-dance stuff.My intro to the band was through "Oversteps".I am hooked!I am now wondering if i want to invest in a copy of "Quaristice-Versions".Is there any posting of a sound file where I might get an idea as to how it sounds?As I said,I am more interested in the cacophonic stuff .Also ,when can we expect to see a new cd and was the piece included on the ICASEA sampler otherwise unreleased?Any response is appreciated.

Quaristice (Versions) is only legally available on the limited edition copy of Quaristice, which was limited to 1000 pressings. You might be lucky to get it on eBay or Discogs, but expect to pay upwards of £60 for it, likely much more. As for whether it's worth it? That's subjective, of course...

New Autechre? Dunno. Anyone's guess is as good as ours. I'd say something is imminent, but I have no reason to say so...just a hunch.

As for the track on the ICASEA comp, yeah that is the only place to get hold of that track.

It literally sounds like different versions of tracks from Quaristice. Much like the Quadrange EP.

For what it's worth... I enjoy (Versions) much more than Quadrange. If you like Quaristice, you'll like 'em!

Thanx for the help.Is is thought that the later AE material is better engineered and has a deeper sound field?I thought that I had noticed this on "Oversteps" and "Move Of Ten".

I don't understand what you're implying here....how did AE release the EP box in any way that is different from any other artist/band releasing a compilation box set?

Plz also check "Untilted" it has some of the most insane beatprogramming i ever heard , there is just nothing like it.

Pretty hard to get in at first but i still play the shit out off it, i just can't get enough of that album after all those years.

I don't mean to sound like a fanboy here, but imo their early stuff doesn't need remastering at all. I can't imagine the recordings being any more clean/full sounding!

Yes, as many of the aesthetes here will attest (myself included) the last thing AE's back catalog needs is to be remastered; which usually amounts to pumping up the mid range and trimming off sonic detail and depth for the sake of increased perceived loudness.

To my knowledge, the only release that has been remastered is the recent Skam Records 20th Anniversary re-issue of Lego Feet. Nothing else has been remastered (unless you count the intro samples being chopped off the Cavity Job tracks for the EP box set, which I don't class that as remastering).

I am in agreement with the general consensus here, in that The 'chre doesn't need to remaster their works. It's as much heresy as remastering My Bloody Valentine stuff.

I want reissues with bonus tracks and fancy packaging, or a boxset like Plastikman or Amon Tobin please. Although that's the kind of thing an a label does when an artist is past their prime, so maybe not yet then.

A remix boxset and a rarity boxset please, then a live boxset please. All ae fans would happily buy these.

All this talk about sound quality and remastering is amusing... incomplete without surface noise bitches!

I would love it if, just for shits & giggles, autechre released their next material only in 24kbps mono realmedia format. Heads would assplode.

I remember they were pissed that Tankakern, Rale and WNSN were leaked on a radio broadcast in lesser quality because it made one of the tunes sound better than when it was in good quality.
