2008 Black Holes

2010 The LHC

I might have messed up the earlier ones. There was a tribute to docking at some point, but I don't know if it was an IDM of the year tournament.

You couldn't get any cooler than S. Hawking, NEVER, EVER.

Those winners are disappointing to me. Half of these are better than every single one of those (overstatement obviously). Deep Sea Creatures and Antarctica are alright, but the rest are way too obvious.

Wait wut ? Nikola Tesla was a great surprise and probably the most IDM of the most IDM winners !

Seriously, black holes? Way to choose the most boringest and obvioustess entry.

I thought the Tesla compilation had a nice Victorian sorta flavour in parts. Gave it a sense of unity.

I still think that autism would make a fucking great and confusing album. Probably not the most IDM, though.

I'm very glad Tesla won. Hope gaarg's tumblr will win this year.

and yeah black holes are as boring and not idm as fractals.

Most IDDUMZ 2012 should be:

alot of the contestants are ambient, metal, postrock or psytrance, not IDM.

Beards actually won the 2007 tournament. DSC was a side comp that Fred put together that ended up overshadowing the Beards comp.

Beards is a fucking great choice. Too bad it replaced Deep Sea Creatures and not Black Holes.

Glad to see that gaarg's tumblr has gotten a bit of a lead.

there was a protest SPISH album made one of those years because some of us weren't happy with the outcome.

can someone maybe explain SPISH to me? and how it's IDM? I'm interested because it *seems* to be entering steampunk territory when I think about the literal juxtaposition.

My interpretation is that because the smoker is exhaling while the space helmet is on he can't escape the smoke (as would normally be the case) which makes him hardcore and awesome since he is evidently enjoying it as well...
