Depends how you look at it. It is one sided because theoretically, I'm not interacting with you. I'm interacting with my computer, the mediator between me and you. For parasocial interaction to exist given your terms, the interaction must be based on a continuity, a synchronous interaction between me and you.

 

It's different because of impression management, mediated communication, and plasticization that occurs in transformed social media.

 

Basically, due to the non-existence of non-verbal cues, you can't see that I'm fucking with you. You somehow interpret based on intonation of my written text that I'm a dick, when, I'm just fucking with you.

You have given your argument: you believe that this is a parasocial interaction. The definition of the term (as I have indicated and supported) clearly states that a parasocial interaction is one-sided, where one party knows a great deal more about one person than the other. This is clearly not the case here (you know as much about me as I know about you). This definition has been expanded to include online communities and other new media.

What we are experiencing is a relational interaction, not a parasocial interaction.
