Thanks all for the great responses - it seemed that the most sound advice of it all was stepping out for some fresh air. And picking up my guitar and tastelessly shredding for about an hour....

hell yeah!

watching other people being creative really helps, see some documentaries about any kind of artists, musicians or not.

That's what I usually do. Especialy with YouTube you can find a lot of documentaries (Alchemist of Sounds, Synth Britania).

I think putting extreme limits and gaining will power to stop using the internet to distract me with endless hours of entertainment is the biggest thing I need to do end this procrastination of not finishing a lot of music. If you're always finding easy ways to be entertained it's hard to want to do work on things, even when you know in the long run it will be gratifying.

Yes it's always nice to give yourself time in between projects or even in the middle of projects to gain a new perspective of growth to put in your expressions but... TIME IS NOT FREE, NOR IS IT GUARANTEED. I remember when I used to feel like I could die in airplane or car accident and that my time was always running out, that was serious to me a while back and I got a lot of great songs finished because of it. I was way inspired, too bad I didn't have the experience, tools and mindset to make more mature work then.

great tips. The internet is such a fucking time vampire.

Having a computer connected to the internet is more enough of a distraction time vampire for me for sure. I've been wanting to this for a while but if I work up the balls to do it but...canceling my ISP and getting the internet out of my life till next winter would be the best thing I could possibly do for my life at this point. Someone, god, jesus, satan, hare krishna, santa claus give me the !!!!!!WILL POWER!!!!!!

damn dude yeah that will work.. just a precaution, I had it a few times for months on end, and I only had internet via mobile internet for a period as well (which really sucked balls), no internet = very boring but very oldschool.. actually I think the mobile internet shit was somehow worse then having no internet at all.

no online gaming is really dull for me and I would have to replace it by some outdoor activity, drinking sports like darts ina bar haha.. been there, actually should get into table top gaming more. the people I know who don't distract themselve with internet spend all their leasure time watching television or drinking...
