I saw it, was interesting for 20 minutes then I hated it.

" Last law bearing means that any reformer or Prophet will be a subordinate of the Holy Prophet (saw) and no new Messenger and Prophet with a new religion, book or decree will come after him. Everything from him will be under the banner of Islam only."

Did you enjoy it?

How long until Cronenberg reaches his Sam Raimi point, and decides to return to "real horror". On the upside, Naked Lunch hits bluray in Spring.

yes, i watched it 2 times, i guess i like people talking shit... i also liked the comedy factor with his security. the coffeeshop dialogue is pretty cool, maybe i was charmed by the blonde lady.

don't quite recall how it ended and its meaning but that's why i want to watch it again lol

he could have used another kind of limo interiors imo, i don't dig the futuristic and neon blue colors he used...

the dialog beyond made me cringe so much that I turned it off after 20 minutes then later I skipped through random parts and noticed more of the same and worse. I am still a Cronenberg fan. George A. Romero seems to be in the same boat lately.

wasn't the cringe inflicted on purpose, well, i cringed of course, but because i was watching one big self centered spoiled magnate, but i guess he was some kind of anti-hero.

or did you cringed because you thought it was bad acted? because it was uninteresting? pretentious? dumb?

it seemed like a shabby try at being surreal to a hipster demographic but I don't think Cronenberg quite knows what makes a hipster tick or something. I think the acting and roles were fitting of a Cronenberg mindfuck/creepfest but the stars just didn't line up. Felt like Cronenberg wrote the thing in one night on meth while bouncing ideas off an AOL chatroom.

i'm with you on that one!

weirdest cronenberg since Existenz ( the plot was less weird than Spider but the aesthetic was waaaay weirder) but had very jarring and strangely delivered dialog. Id give it a 7.5/10

id be surprised if much of it was originally written by Cronenberg, it's based on a Don Delillo book and even though I haven't read it or any of his books I'm guessing that it's trying to emulate his writing style, similar to how American Psycho or Fight Club was brought to screen (relying way too much on the tone and feel of the actual novel)

anything compared to Existenz is probably a good thing. that's an example of a great movie that most lozerz would write off cuz of the low budget

I loved eXistenz. It was like Return to Videodrome.

I remember just wtf-ing at this movie for the first half, but as it went on I adapted to it and was enjoying it by the end. It just took a bit to get sucked into the world and accept it. Still a weird fucking movie.

I'd recommend listening to Cronenberg's commentary on the bluray, it adds a bit of insight about his intentions, while at the same time leaving out stuff for your own imagination. It also places the movie solidly with his earlier 'body horror' films, I think almost all of his movies have had the body as some sort of focus and Cosmopolis is no different. I really liked the dialogue, and the unreal view outside the limo windows, and especially Samantha Morton's dialogue. It deserves better than the 5.2 on IMDB in my opinion. My one complaint was that he didn't show as much visually, it had interesting things, he says in the commentary he didn't want to show the apartment, but rather allude to it in the dialogue, and that's good, I had those images in my head, I liked it, but on the other hand that's what a movie is for, the visuals, as compared to a book. But again, all in all very nice.

I'll watch it again and probably like it more but i have to admit i was confused from the first frame when it read ''The rat is a unit of currency''. I do not understand this concept at all.
