I guess Autechre are kind of due a long wait. For some sad reason I dont picture them producing too many more LP's together. We should cherish each one we get from this point on I think.

But if we dont have new AE by this time next year, I will be a little worried.

They don't live near each other anymore right?

It's incredibly rare to have a 2+ decade musical career as strong as theirs has been. How much longer can they really last? Will they make records until they die? We've already heard them speculate in at least one interview about potential post-autechre careers ("dive headfirst into academia" was said), so we know they've given it thought.

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

I really hope that at some point they decide to get into hiphop production.

.. or that we'll hear an acoustic album at some point. Not guitars and flutes and such, but real percussion and acoustic instruments triggered by some kind of mechanical process. Could you imagine Oversteps played on real bell-like instruments? Would be mindblowing!

NOT living near each other is probably what helps them keep it going at this point. They've mentioned things like having almost identical setups and the ease of transferring MIDI files and the like. It allows freedom, but also a coherence and allows the "third person," the Ae person, to exist simultaneously in two places. The technology will only get better to make these things easier and more dynamic as we move along. Live wireless or LAN sync over hundreds of miles? Who knows?

Could you imagine spending your every creative moment over 20+ years in the same room with the same person? Not I.

i think they'll be fine, as long as Sean doesn't do too many drugs.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

good points. also we don't know very much about their creative process so speculation is rather futile...

Right. Of course.

I'm just going by what I can recall in an interview regarding separate, but nearly identical studios and the transfer of files. They, in a sense remix each other, bouncing back and forth. I've been hearing about more and more collaborations that work this way. Wouldn't have been easily possible until fairly recently.

Hell, at this rate it might be a 3-year wait for the Legofeet vinyl... :emotawesomepm9: too soon? OK, sorry.

No. Come to think of it, though, hanging out in the same room day-in, day-out probably has a lot to do with why their mid-to-late 90s material kicked so much ass. Well, that and absence of broadband internet.

The 00's were just as amazing.

Shit time flies though. Can't believe Oversteps is already 2+ years old. Hoping for a 2013 album!

I cherish their albums already. I mean they are my favourite musicians.

i'm picking up vibes that somethings on its way.................they're probably just having creative differences on the cover art color...

"What about #D1FFFF?"

"Nah..... #AFCAFF is more enigmatic"

"What, like #FFF76B?"

Rob: "Let's release it this year."

Sean: "No, hang about...that Boards of Canada thing is coming out soon...soon...soon...

It's the standard upcoming Ae album anticipation cycle. We usually don't have a clue about their next release until right before it happens. In the meantime, there are plenty of music options out there.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

didn't they used to have a contractual obligation with warp to release a certain number of full-lengths and eps within a certain length of time? i remember hearing this said some time in the past, but it's been years and may have not been true, or the 'contract' may have changed since then.

since one of them said recently that he hasn't been making music at all really for almost a year, my wet dream is that they'll start an 'unreleased tracks' series or something. how fucking awesome would that be?

Yeah, true say.

Co-signed. This would fucking rule.

Well true, but sometimes they have announced albums a few months in advance, and that is a bit annoying. I'd rather know a couple weeks or maybe a month in advance, otherwise I'll just sit around anxiously waiting for what seems like forever! :p
