why? just because i would, i guess.

it's fun to play around with words.

and this isn't 'work', where you have to be serious, well behaved and formal, and display cleverousness all the time.

it was probably just laziness. but why the fuck does it matter anyways......???????? lol

all too often people write things how they think they heard them, much like chinese whispers... the truth dissipates with each misunderstanding until we are all reading completely and utterly illegible nonsense. that's why it matters!

(i'm half joking btw... ok maybe 40%... alright i'm not even fucking joking!)

also it's kind of funny how troon copy/pastes all that philosophy and wisdom nonsense but cannot grasp simple grammar.

disclaimer - of course troon might be non-english speaking or dyslexic or both, in which case GET YOUR ARSE TO NIGHTSCHOOL OR SOMETHING FFS!!!

also, also, i've kind of grown to like (or at least accept) troon as part of this hear community.

I'd like to know how many artists/releases have been gained through New Releases. I bet it's quite a few. It's great to just trowl through in the evenings and gain a new outlook towards unheard music.

titbit is more commonly used outside of USA

no it's not. it's exactly one of those sayings that you described! the ones that are like chinese whispers.

i'm english, have never been to america, and i know the correct term and saying is tidbit.

so, gotcha! you demonstrated yourself exactly what you were slagging off troon for! lol. which is funny.

but who cares, right? ;)

anyway i'll shut up now. good thread. :)

  Quote
The term, which means ‘little,’ or ‘tasty morsel,’ is related to ‘tittle’ (as in jot and tittle, and is also related to titmouse, titwillow, etc.) It refers to a small typographic mark. According to Matthew Carter, who is a scholar as well as a type designer, it was originally the name of a horizontal mark (like a dash or tilde) to indicate that a letter had been omitted in text.

The word is spelled ‘titbit’ in most of the English-speaking world — though not universally in North America. However, we do still say ‘tit for tat’ and ‘tittle-tattle,’ terms that are related to the root meaning of ‘tit.’

unlucky pal.

actually, keltoi, you're right! almost. even the Oxford English dictionary says it's "titbit", and that tidbit is an American thang!

what the...! ?? - i stand corrected. was sure it was tidbit and that titbit was just said out of laziness/slang. oh well...

but it's still actually just the 1 word, either tidbit or titbit, and not 2 separate words with a space in between like you typed before.

so i'm actually more right than you are, really. - unlucky! :emotawesomepm9:

and i hate myself right now for arguing about this on the internet! lol.. i do have a life, i swear! ;) haha

Troon is pretty obviously the joint account of Grant Wilson-Claridge and the cute little girl from Maximus Mischief's avatar.

you registered here nearly 10 years ago. i'd think that means you have a right to say whatever you want.. even titboo.

edit: new releases subforum is great. see what i did there?

Edited by sirch

new releases is prob. my favorite subforum here.

troon bro, I no thing personal against you but my grievances against your modus operandi in the new releases are as follows

- you post every new release by everyone remotely electronic under the sun. It dilutes the forum and pushes a lot of quality, banter-worthy albums off the first page. Yeah yeah of course you can easily go on to pages 2, 3, etc. (or maybe even have luck with the shitty forum search), but the reality is most of the time people just scan the first page for new posts before moving on.

- Most of your posts are simply just a hyperlink to some label website, nothing else. If you're compelled enough to start a topic about a new release, at least have something to say about it, otherwise why start a topic in the first place??

which brings us to...

- you don't/won't fully disclose your interests, i.e., who's paying you. For a mod and topic starter for about 1/3 of the content of the subforum it's the least you should do.
