I just ordered the Live at the Cat's Cradle 1992 cd. I had heard it but there's a dvd that comes with so I am excited for that, plus the show is so good. Based on some online Ween fan opinions there seems to be a rift amongst Ween fans between the earlier gritty/sloppy stuff versus the later more polished better recorded more instruments stuff. I had sort of stopped listening after Chocolate and Cheese. not sure why because I loved that album. maybe I should check out the stuff that came after since people seem to like it. But check out the Cat's Cradle show. it's right up there with there best IMO.

You definitely need to check out The Mollusk and Quebec. They're polished but they keep it brown. So brown.

I listened to Happy Colored Marbles 6 times in a row today, in fucking memoriam.

They've pretty much been broken up for a while, haven't they? I got the impression that Dean was off being a family man and Gene was just going it solo. In any case, it's been about 9 years since they released a really good album, so it's not very shocking.

Nonetheless, they will be missed. I had a lot of good times in my youth involving hallucinogens and Ween. I remember my friend had this really worn-out tape of The Pod that he tried to get me to listen to, but it creeped me out and the only thing I could handle was Chocolate and Cheese. Eventually he made me listen to it when we were on acid and I got the joke, and I pretty much loved them from then on. They were extremely talented and I think they could've been a bigger band if their attitude hadn't been so hardcore "fuck you" all of the time. They wouldn't have been as funny then, though.

if he did a solo album like 12 golden country greats, i'd buy it. I love that album.

I stopped listening after Chocolate and Cheese also, and it was because I was turned off by 12 Golden Country Greats. I was living in Texas and hated country music, I was too young to appreciate classic country and the irony. It wasn't until several years later, after Quebec was released, that I finally went back to see what they had been up to and realized I had ignored what I consider their best, The Mollusk. I also think Quebec and White Pepper are really great. I felt like an idiot when I realized all this, but better late than never. I also came to appreciate 12 Golden Country Greats quite a lot in the past few years.

yeah mutilated lips is incredible, some of my all-time favorite lyrics.

i love ween but i'm glad they broke up rather than force out more sub-par material.

and some day when their kids have moved out they'll probably reunite and record an album in their raspy, 60 year old voices and it'll be great.

Eh , it's not as though their music has disappeared off the face of the Earth. Still kinda sad though. Only complete and total idiots don't like Ween.

I'M SORRY FOR BEING ME I CAN'T HELP THE WAY I AM
