Great work Squee!!!

Mirezzi.........

I fucking love the film.

Goes from some fucking Harmony Korine feel to the Man who fell to Earth multivision amazingness, to an amazing music film.

Seriously tough, amazing stuff.

Great work!!!!

Downloading that sucker so I can watch it on my tv.

Thanks, Cody.

I think it's hard to understand the specific context unless you're from So-Illinois and lived through that event, but I hope it maintains some of the WTF-naturegasm vibe I was after.

When I screened it publicly, it was projected on a 40 foot screen with super nice audio. I had a boner.

That is bloody brilliant man, you should definitely be proud of this one ! I love how slowly segues into a completely different direction from the initial style and look but does so without feeling contrived, and then returns back to that theme just as seamlessly. Good use of that little snippet of Biosphere track too - but gonna have to check out Leafcutter John, the track was fantastic !

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

The most epic watmm video ever was probably the one where orubarasorot was driving around outside a an Autechre show in Chicago and none other than Sini flashed his Aphex Twin T-shirt and him then flipped him off.

Thanks, dude. Nice catch on the Biosphere! It was there as temp atmosphere as I had intended to dig up some poor man's audio from freesound, but I moved on before the project was even complete. Sometimes, it's hard to just put things down and move on, but when it's time, it's time. I'd had enough.

P.S. - I totally <3 that whole Leafcutter album.

interesting vid. i don't think it needs the music. or maybe i just don't like the music. that's very personal though. i like the first part with the storm footage (i know you didn't film this so, sorry) a bit more than the second part even though the photography is very pretty looking. the contrast between the really low res pixelated storm stuff and the hi res nature stuff is sweet. but overall, these sorts of films don't do a lot for me. my pea brain needs narrative.

by the way, my opinion is irrelevant and if i were making films they would probably be business parks at night set to tim hecker or something so i really don't know what i'm talking about.

Last time I searched I believe it was taken down.

Appropriating YouTube videos was the most fun I had with Nature Hates Calculators. Intercutting that material with the HD shots was a happy accident in the Final Cut timeline, so no need to be sorry that you liked that section more.

I became a bit bored with narrative as obviously, based on my own narrative work, I made films with thin or non-existent stories. My experimental films were better/more successful artistically than my narrative work IMO. I'm excited by the Harmony Korine reading from Atop. Although I'm not a huge fan, it's a fulfilling interpretation and describes what I wanted. Finding that woman's gravely, chainsmoker's voice on the YouTube video was serendipity at its finest. "It's a frickin' disaster. We don't have chainsaws or nothing..." I wanted to hump her.

P.S. - I could watch Business Parks + Tim Hecker for hours. I once used Norberg as a temp score to cut a friend's short film. Hecker liked it and so we licensed the music. It did okay in festivals, played at Ann Arbor's and a good one in Berlin.

Yes, I did. I'm not much of a reviewer but I think your shorts are all very lovely, heartfelt films. You've got a great eye. Beautiful camera work. A.J. is incredibly poignant, Gerald's portrait is a very delicate character study (I love the actor you got for this) and Rae is such a beautiful sincere message. :ok:

That's very nice of you and means a lot to me! As the resident blowhard critic, I am in a vulnerable position to share my work. lol. Oh well, fuck it, may as well let rip.

Of course, the style of my films should make it fairly clear that I have no intentions of moving to L.A. except to suck dick at the bus station.

gerald-in-fall-thumb.jpg

Gerald In Fall (2008) Part one - features music by Eluvium aka. Matt Cooper.

aj-thumb.jpg

A.J. (2009) Part two - features music by Helios aka. Keith Kenniff

They're meant to be watched back to back. I was going to make three of them, but I don't have any money and the actors are all living in different parts of the country now. FWIW, they're both adaptations of popular internet stories.

Here are two more experimental non-fiction shorts I made:

rae-thumb.jpg

Rae (2010) -sorry, no IDM contained

127-masters-thumb.jpg

127 Masters (2011) -no IDM, but references The Shining!

Fortunately, I'm my own worst critic so if anybody watches these and hates them, it's fine. We can still ^5.

P.S. - Ego! Within the next year, I hope to finish writing a completely original script and I'll cast Dan Paul (Gerald) to play the lead. He's insanely talented and versatile. Doing this whole Retard with a Sword thing was a weird role for him, but he did well.

Also, maybe I can get Mr. Salads to post a short film he completed recently, Deadbox, that's doing quite well in festivals. It's an early John Carpenter / Joe Dante-inspired story and he pulled it off very well.

I have see both of the first films, need to watch because I remember enjoying AJ a lot. I remember really loving the feel of Gerald in Fall but perhaps was overall a little too quirky for my tastes. Will watch them both again.

127 Masters - The feel and subject matter gave me the tingles for some reason. Love this. The different looks on all of these men's faces and knowing what their jobs were/are, really hit me. Thinking about all of the writing that each of the have done and edited is mind boggling. The switch from b&w to colour was really interesting as I think you were trying to show a different time line, a more recent one? If that is the case, BRILLIANT!I am sure you thought of all this Mirezzi. You achieved something great with this short.

Rae - well........Female body image examined to degree, involving pregnancy, I haven't seen on film before. The frightening aspects of being pregnant must be a very tough thing for most modern women to go through with worship of celebrity being at an all time high. I loved the composition in this even though I found the film to be a bit slow moving. The messing with the focus of the shots is a great touch. Showing how unsure a person can be of themselves when made vulnerable. The shot of her belly and then to the shot of your child? Mirezzi? Is fantastic. Great work once again. The last shot made the whole film for me.

127 masters seems pretty obviously about old white men in institutions. i think it's the most complete of the videos in terms of subject matter melding with execution. the old white guys have a lot of humanity in those photos. i dunno, isn't it pretty obvious what it is saying? or did i miss something?

i like a.j. a lot. reminds me of a george saunders story in feel. rae is probably the most overtly personal of the films and i felt a bit voyeuristic watching it, but i like it. i watched gerald in fall a long time ago. i'm not sure it's totally successful, some of the acting is a little off. i like the man child aspect of it, but it felt a little forced compared to your other narrative work.

127 masters is my favorite of your films that i've seen.
