This looks way better than minecraft and its free

It looks like a great idea but the fps aspect looked a bit weak. Could definitely use some work

Yeah, this looks like it has a lot of potential but falls short on things like looking generic, the character model looks completely down syndrome, the physics are a little more stupid than goofy. Needs a lot of added personality and polish.

Pretty amazing really, but why make it free? They should have set some modest price and raked in dough from the curious...

Don't know why more people don't know about Sauerbraten, it's open source, been around for years and has been constantly evolving. The graphics are beautiful, water effects are gorgeous, it's lightweight, multiplayer and runs on Mac, Linux and Windows. Works equally well as a FPS or building game. (check out the massive map that is a highly detailed, full size replica of the starship enterprise).

Isn't the difference though that Sauerbraten is essentially just an FPS but has a real time level editor before you start the level, rather than this in which you can play whilst modifying the terrain.

You can set Sauerbraten in many different modes, one allows jumping between game play and in-game building simply by pressing the "e" key.

Can't get the game to work. Just crashes after the preferences screen.

Its free to compete with Minecraft and it doesn't even seem like its finished yet..

Its not finished, as in the first post they were concerned about releasing the game too early, but it is playable (at least it is on my pc) and while in my opinion in its current state its not all too fun, I believe this game has a lot of potential.

just let it load for a bit. it runs eventually

I was kinda waiting for something similar to happen but I thought it would take longer. Still, it's work in progress.

I'm hoping for something more peaceful and frp-like. 3d shooting games are kinda 90s for me.

Portal is the opposite of minecraft as it works so well by its story. minecraft has no real story at all

It seems to me shooting in this game is just a tool. In minecraft you have swords and bows, but its lame.
