I always get Grizzly Bear, Panda Bear, and Gold Panda mixed up.

I'd like to listen to that mix

I wish there was more stuff like the first two tracks.

this album is brilliant. wow.

LOL.

I got into Grizzly Bear with the last album, after first hearing "Two Weeks". I loved the song, but on first spin I thought the album was the most boring thing I'd ever heard. Second spin proved almost just as boring. Third spin and I started to like certain songs. After that it was nearly brilliant, except for a few songs that still don't do much for me.

All that said, I haven't heard the new one yet.

I did run a whole gamut of emotions yesterday didn't I. I should know better too. I was blown away by yellow house on first listen right when they signed to warp. and that album got better and better and better.

vecka didn't grab me at first but it slowly came to be just an astonishing album.

this is totally different. it feels very sad and slow. but it is just killer. the songs are all good and the album has a real nice flow. it is just entirely not at all what I was expecting considering the two songs they released beforehand.

Listened twice. Noticed a couple hooks the second time around, but still feeling underwhelmed about the whole thing. We'll see tomorrow I guess. I always know its a keeper when I wake up with the songs in my head and I'm singing along by the end of the first week. I'm not sure if that will be the case with this one though.

shields = grower.

not even a particularly slow grower. it just requires a few listens. first listened on sunday afternoon, first sunny weekend we've had in months (after a painfully cold and disgusting winter), doors and windows open with warm breeze making its way around the house, lounging around in a sun soaked living room listening to the new grizzly bear. i thought the circumstances would be perfect. but the album just didn't grab *n*

gave it a few more repeated listens over sunday + monday. now it is tuesday and i'm completely hooked. the album is lovely.

my original concern was that the album was too daniel rossen heavy ("WHERE ARE THE HARMONIES?"). it almost sinks into department of eagles territory. but now i've grown fond of the albums sound. i like the style and groove of the album, the way it slides between intimate moments and loud smiling summer styles.

it's just. a really good album. and i like it.

(not like the animal collective album. that album is not growing. except for rosie oh. that song is still bangin').

"quite good"/10.

Listened 3 times today. It sunk its teeth in. Definitely a more mature album... not necessarily in progression / technique, but vibe. I feel like this is definitely some top notch NPR lovin dad rock, which isn't necessarily a bad thing I suppose.

still loving this album.

it's also gotten me straight back into their whole catalogue. re-listening to yellow house, veckatimist and now this new one almost on repeat (plus friend, and a little mix of b-sides i put together from the first two albums). full grizzly bear obsession mode. "fanboy". (all the more reason to be excited for seeing them live in novemeber^^).

anyway, *bump*. here's them playing "Sleeping Ute", "Yet Again", "A Simple Answer", and "Speak in Rounds".

I don't like the vocals on the second track, "Speak in Rounds". They sound raspy.

Also I'm not feeling any songs jump out at me like the ones I love from Veckatimest. The ones that just made me melt. There are some good ones for sure (the two singles included). Maybe in time that will happen. Maybe 4 spins isn't enough to judge.

i am seeing them at radio city in nyc on september 24th. very psyched.
