encey
My younger brother's middle name is "Paul," for similar reasons! So, going back to the Stones: Their musical performance is no better than you'd hear in an average garage band. The voice is mediocre, the riffs and drumming are pedestrian, the lyrics are just so typical. Is it only because they were the first to perform these cliches, or am I just totally full of shit and missing something important? And if so, what? BRIAN JONES AND GRAINGER JAGGER HAHAHA. Post of the day right there! Actually my middle name is Charles...so I figure I lucked out and got named for the two coolest Stones. I really dodged a bullet too...my dad always told me how I was nearly named Eric...and you know which fucking snoozehand that Eric was... Caretstik
Never ever listened to a Stones studio album, and wouldn't know what most songs are off. But... Let's Spend The Night Together (which is apparently accepted as one of their worst songs ever), The Last Time, Under My Thumb, Sympathy For The Devil, Jigsaw Puzzle, It's All Over Now, Jumping Jack Flash, Brown Sugar, that is some serious musical mastery. And shoot me right now, but Undercover (Of The Night) has some shit-hot drumming. Guest Alfred E. Neuman
What's everyone bitching and moaning about? The RS are obviously fucking awesome. Between the Buttons is so dark and solid. [youtubehd]IBDocCjO3aA[/youtubehd] Edited July 27, 2012 by Alfred E. encey
Sorry, I know it's my shortcoming here. I'm sure they're a great band. I probably just need to listen to a lot of their stuff until I start liking it. In the meantime, I just can't, like, feel the soul in their performances? I mean, I guess I expect the music to be more raw and unrestrained and energetic or something, and it just always sounds so muted and restrained. Sorry, I know I am going to piss off a lot of people by saying what sounds like an utterly stupid thing. I am well aware of that in advance!
