chicks dig guys with iPhones.

Maybe in 2007

iPhones (and smartphones) are pretty ordinary nowadays, everyone has one.

i don't have one. no-one in my family has one.

Doesn't change the fact that iPhones and smartphones are pretty ordinary.

hate to get all aspergers on you, but you said that everyone has one. regardless of whether you meant iPhone, or smartphone, you're still wrong. even if you only factor in the US and UK. I'd even hazard a guess that in Japan, not everyone has a smartphone.

the thing is - other lawyers fighting bullshit patent lawsuits can look at this ruling and present the prior art as evidence that Apple's patents are either invalid or deserve more scrutiny.

this is the best we can hope for. but then again, i'm not an optimistic guy...

A) Use of comic-sans font results in an automatic 10 week suspension

B) you don't say ;)

C) You don't have a smartphone?

edit: Africa Hitech cases? link please?

Something to make you maybe a bit less pessimistic in this particular instance:

http://www.bloomberg...judge-says.html

Specifically:

  Quote
The U.K. court judgment “marks a considerable defeat for Apple in the smartphone patent wars,” said Peter Bell, an attorney at Stevens & Bolton LLP, who isn’t involved in the case. “Two of Apple’s prize patents have been knocked out in the U.K.”

I have a smartphone, but I was referring to iPhone, which is what my original comment was regarding in the first place. As for the quote:

Yes, but lawyers for companies in other countries can read. Seeing as the patent process/requirements for the US and the UK are not remarkably different, there is hope that this will have some influence in the US. Seeing as the courts there have refused to place an injunction against HTC phones while an investigation gets underway, this will surely be brought up in the investigation. So that's why there is room for optimism.

fucking companies and their fucking lawyers.

sigh.

I'm very happy about this ruling too; the amount of lawsuits for patent infringement being thrown around is just absurd.
