Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

everytime someone plays me a Tim Hecker track they love it always reminds me that Zoviet France was doing this style better and more provocatively 15 years before.

You can't go wrong with endless summer, not a very challenging album, but it's oh so nice.

in my strong opinion Zoviet France are the godfathers of the modern ambient and lofi aesthetic so prominent in electronic music today. Brian Eno, Cluster and Popol Vuh were doing this before ZF, but not until Zoviet did a band cohere it all into a very nice package of atmospheres.

this is some newer stuff they did

Yellow Swans - Going Places

Fennesz - Venice; Black Sea; Field Recordings 1995:2002

Michael Santos - Memory Maker

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love Is A Stream; Shining Skull Breath

Xela & Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - Love Is A Dream

Belong - October Language

Lawrence English - Kiri No Oto; The Peregrine

Mike Shiflet - Llanos

Philip Jeck - An Ark For The Listener

Pimmon - The Oansome Orbit

Simon Scott - Traba

i'm not really a fennesz head but my favorite fennesz album is black sea. > tim hecker

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

Their styles are completely different from one another. I'm not sure if I would claim that one is better than the other. Tim Hecker's music also incorporates piano a fair amount of the time (and now organ), where Fennesz's music is completely guitar based, aside from synths featured here and there.

I did download all Zoviet France ever did as you keep mentioning them. So what release exactly are you referring to so I can have a listen?

womp womp but yes I agree. It's almost shocking how underrated they are given how much output they have.
