Man that sucked

I was in the local pool hall just there. Went to the juke box and thought I'd play "On" because I heard it on youtube the other day and liked it. It was so embarassing the pile of crap that came out the speakers. Is there some sort of remix to on because this was about 10 to 12 minutes of a tribal/African rhythym with hardly any variation or melody. Everyone in the club was shouting "get this shit off" and cheering when it stopped.

I think I'll be more careful where I play this kind of music in future!

Haha I did kinda deserve it. Will just play dizee rascal next time.

The song had zero melody exept some quiet strings. There was not one breakdown. It was pretty much only percussion, acoustic percussion.

Yeah you knew the one I meant right away then! I guess when you're being experimental then you'll come out with crap like this occasionally. Still respect an experimental artist way more than the guys who program 4 to the floor beats + dotted eighth synth and cheesy vocals all day long.

Our bar/club at university had this new fangled jukebox thing that connected to the internet for the song database so had pretty much every song going. I put this on the playlist queue then left:

A few days later the whole setup had been disabled never to return. I never found out if this song was responsible or not.

I really like that mix! But yeah, it would be kinda awkward to put on in a redneck pool hall.

This is like the WATMMer's equivalent of the "doing a speech realizing you have no pants" dream. It's like you go up to someone & say "check out this playlist of awesome music by the Aphex Twin. Yeah, this is the kind of music I'm into. Pretty smart stuff right?"

But then you look down & every track on the playlist is Aphex Airlines

There's actually a bar near my place that has a jukebox that has loads of Aphex Twin and a lot of other stuff I wouldn't expect. Never had any visibly bad responses to playing it (and all original versions so far, thank god) but I did have the employees get kinda pissed and turn down the volume when some Ween off of The Pod was played by either me or one of my friends. The waitresses were blasting some deadmau5 or something before at like full volume, so it was super loud when we put it on.

...and then there was the time that my friend put 20 bucks worth of Thriller on at the most horrible bro/hick poolhall where I live. When the owner tried to unplug the machine and plug it back in it just kept on playing fucking thriller all night.

I used to play Soma FM in the Hair Salon I worked at. Autechre's 'Drane' came on once and it was a little awkward given the environment and the musical tastes of my coworkers.

There was also this dance track that would occasionally play; after the breakdown the beat would slowly pick up speed again; all the while a woman is having a long, drawn-out and VERY vocal orgasm. I relished the awkward tension that onset!
