My slightly more far-fetched theory would be that this guy-- let's call him Fat Ridley -- is the original Ridley Scott, who got out of mainstream directing after Legend bombed, moved to the valley to get pudgy and enjoy the perks of horrifically exploitative casting couch pornmaking, and was replaced by cloned 2Ridley, who maintained a svelter figure but never really figured out how to direct a decent film.
