It is a volley. Not as impressive as hitting the ball before it bounces, but if it's in the air when struck it's still a volley. This isn't tennis. It's not a half volley either as it would need to be in contact with the ground when struck.

Ah i thought it was still just in contact with the ground. Upon review, however, it clearly is a volley.

Middle class guardian reader and Arsenal 'fan' applying concepts from tennis to football and patronising a working class hero who once fondled Chris Waddle's cousin. What has the world come to?

A half volley is most definitely striking the ball as it drops and touches the ground, think of a drop kick in rugby. Volley is simply hitting the ball in the air, it doesn't matter how many times it's bounced in football. 'Volleys & headers' was simply stretching the concept to make a game of it.
