I've got a few of these I'm going to tackle this evening. Haven't tried before. Anyone have knowledge?

YES! Figured it was a good season to bump this daddy of a thread back.

Love the Houblon Chouffe myself.

A little lighter than I was expecting for a winter ale, but seriously drinkable. Not great but also not bad at all.

A nice drop that.

I'm starting to genuinely like winter ales...

Bell's Christmas Ale is awesome, and gets a huge thumbs up from me.

Harpoon Winter Warmer is underrated... it's not a "great beer" but it's very drinkable and pleasant. I like Heineken too, I think they're both delicious beers. I say that knowing that I look like a noob.

promising ginger and fruit aromas but didn't really deliver on flavour and lacked body for a "seasonal ale".

banana-bread-beer.jpg

surprised me this one, thought i'd hate it but it was.. ok... loads of banana on the nose, then maybe too much going on in flavour with more of a dried banana flavour than fresh... with burnt brown sugar or caramel, and bready yeast and malt bitterness. but kind of dry and watery at the same time... brewed with mineral water i guess? wouldn't rush to get this again.

This was awesome, and worth the $6+ for the 10.5 oz.:

Me and the gf liked the banana bread beer, we had it with breakfast though.

New-Belgium-Frambozen-Bottle.jpg

I've been enjoying this New Belgium Frambozen lately. A brown ale with raspberries. It has a nice tart fruitiness that balances well with the base beer. Almost like chocolate covered raspberries, but not crazy chocolatey flavor, just a hint.

Slightly off-topic observation: Man, there are a lot of good beers from the UK that are totally fucked up by being packaged in clear bottles.

Why the fuck do they do that? They taste like a skunk's rectum after shipping anywhere. Why would you make a good beer only to force it to taste like Corona after bottling?

Seriously!

Saison Du Pont, touted as one of the best beers in the world... fucking green bottles. Skunked. You'll never know how great it was meant to be. It's not like they aren't aware of how much green bottles suck. What's their deal?

^^ i wasn't a huge fan of the czar myself, i'll give it another try though if i see it on draft (the brewery is about 20 miles from my house so i likely will). as far as RIS go, the hoppin' frog B.O.R.I.S and the great divide oak aged yeti are two of my favorites. the north coast rasputin is good as well.

Encey, don't forget Old Ra Ra Rasputin

edit: shit, I just realized I've never tried the Parabola. Firestone Walker is in Paso Robles. This is too close for me to have not had Parabola. Fuck.

Thanks for all the recs! I have tried the BORIS, but not the Yeti. There's also Labyrinth, right?

Parabola will come out again soon. It is a revelation!

I was on top of the 'best answer' list for awhile!

Havent check into this thread in a while, and cant remember everything I've tried since... (I try about 2 or 3 new beers every saturday at the shop i work at

Ive had a couple bottles of this stuff this week, it's interesting tossed in an orange slice on the second bottle and it enhanced it quite well... The Sierra Nevada Celebration ale is also quite tasty,
