posh beers and ales and stuff thread

Definitely not a warm weather beer, which is why it's been sitting in my basement for six months. I always give it a longing glance when I am down there. Will report back after I've enjoyed it.

I admire people who can have world-class beers sat around doing nothing for six months. Six hours would be pushing it with me ; )

Maybe if your American and you have to get certain beers exported from over the pond, I guess you would have a different perspective and keep them for special occasions.

Yes I am in the US, and have been looking for this beer since last christmas. Finally found one locally in the summer and didn't want to waste it. It's not easy...

I'm gonna order a big mixed case from them next week (for Christmas). They're excellent!! Yum yum.

not much head on this, but a really smooth mellow, fruity kind of ale. delicious. 7.5/10

much more complex, deep chocolately earthy flavour...took me a couple of pulls to get into it, but am

now enjoying 7/10

that's pretty awesome!  are they sanctioned by the monastery, or made by a 3rd party?

Home and Bargains often have one off beers for 99p or less. Bought a fair few of these recently in Shrewsbury..

Oakham beers buy on sight. The other one is a collaboration between Brewdog and Yeastie Boys (Beer makers love a pun) - really hoppy black porter with a head that would make Divine Brown proud.

150% Beer Porn, dayum some of these look lush, you can almost smell them thru the screen.

Will treat myself to 1 from the old man's beer collection on Christmas Day cos abstinence only goes so far when Pops aint around himself any more to finish them off.

Beer based stews n sauces are delicious when cooked out properly, slow cooker is gonna get a workout in the cold of January so you get the full range of flavour profiles without the actual booze hits. Works with all cuts of beef, lamb & acres of veg, chin-chin

my tapatalk photos keep freezing and won't send (I think the pic resolution is too high and/or I need to upgrade the account)otherwise I'd be a bit more active in this corner of watmm

I ordered a mixed case of The Wild Beer Co, who's beer I'm becoming fascinated with. Had the Tepache https://wildbeer.myshopify.com/collections/limited-editions/products/tepache who's description I wasn't so sure on, but wow what an absolute stunning beer! Then had Rooting Around Autumn https://wildbeer.myshopify.com/products/rooting-around-autumn which was absolutely awful, which is part of the fun I guess (lucky the Tepache was 660ml and Rooting was 330ml ; )

some friends of ours got us a cookbook dedicated to cooking with Belgian beer.  over 100 recipes from appetizers to dessert, even one using Westvleteren 12 (who would ever cook with this instead of drinking it?!).

we had them over and tried out two dishes from the cookbook, a pork with Westmalle dubbel, and pears with Kriek.  loved it.

Nogne - Imperial Stout - 9%

Christ this is truly an intense savage wonderful beer. I bought this from The Grumpy Goat shop in Reading on a whim (I recognised the Nogne O symbol as beer worth checking out). I couldn't drink more than one though, not because of the strength but because the flavour is so very rich. Actually on second thoughts you could twist my arm and I'd have another one...

Can't be arsed writing a poncey review (partly cos I'm drunk off it) but it's quite nice innit

Massachusetts Trappist, I'd like to try that! Hail the good work of the Monk *bows*

And stuff the January detox, as I have next week off to recuperate from 6 weeks of ballbreaking work so I just put in a tasty order myself. Hopefully I'll sort out the tapatalk photo glitch and post some pics up a bit later.

they have a few of those beers at Beerhawk (uk online beer shop) the Trappist 8 Achel Blonde & Bruin and the Spencer Trappist Ale

I'll be honest and say I know almost nothing about American beer, I'd like to rectify that in the future, beerhawk also got some Founders beers in which are highly rated (never tasted them)

Anyway I'm drinking a pint of Schneider Weisse Mein Aventinus (Tap 6) and weighing in at a very sturdy 8.2%, one of my favorite beers
