Ey! Does this 2012, 3x CD version of Rifts have different mastering than the first CD release? That first one is a little on the loud side, mastering-wise. Needs more lush. Comparing the mastering credits of the two versions of Rifts (2009/2012), on Discogs, it looks like there may be a difference, but I'm not sure.

There's probably an RMS log somewhere of rips of both versions comparing the volumes (obviously I'm not going to link to one - nor search as I'm at work and will no doubt get a slap 'pon wrists)

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

top is from the recent 3CD version.

bottom is from the original 2CD version.

they're the same, i cannot tell a difference between them.

the only track i really did notice a difference on, was Blue Drive.

this version is from the digital version of 'KGB MAN / Oneohtrix Point Never ‎– KGB Nights / Blue Drive', from boomkat.

this version is from the recent 3CD version of Rifts.

I might be mistaken but I remember hearing somewhere that some early OPN material was recorded lossy

so i dunno, if that's true it might've limited their mastering options a bit

This arrived at my turntable today. 964/1000. It sounds unbelievably good. The box is very sturdy, and looks great. The artwork is amazing blown up.

The reason I got the box set instead of the individual LPs is that I heard that the individual pressings are not very good, and that the box set pressings were phenomenal. Plus, it would be convenient to pick up all of the LPs in one go.

I got it for 80 USD, which appears to be a very very good price, especially since they go for around 180 USD now.

we have a recent purchases thread that needs reviving, you seem to buy loads of records so feel free to post pics there. It used to be one of my favorite threads and fairly active but it died for some reason
