Ableton Push Controller

Recommended Posts

I didn't know about PXT Live, looks pretty great! Looks like Push is definitely worth the buck, especially with the tweaking possibility.

I don't have a Push and don't plan on getting one, but I can definitely recommend PXT Live. I've been using that same guys software for the KORG PadKontrol (PKC) for years and it's awesome!

So, is there any reason for me to not buy the Push? Or is it really the perfect companion to ableton live, as they make it out to be? Any bugs and little annoyances?

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Yeah it really is good, don't regret the purchase at all. Takes a little while to get your head round the interface - I'm still not quick enough to navigate through the menus for my liking even though I've had it almost a year. I've had the occasional bug when I've had a huge live set and it seemed to occasionally lose 'focus' with ableton, but a quick power cycle would sort it.

It's still not great at using the interface of third party VST/i plugins but you gan usually get around it by turning it into an instrument map and manually mapping the 6 most used parameters onto the encoders.

But aye it's great, built like a bloody tank !

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I can second what mcbpete said. Even down to the occasionally losing focus part, but that's not often or bad enough to kill it for me; I'm not out playing gigs with it though...yet. I also have a pretty small issue with one knob on mine that will often briefly change control to Swing Amount (and it's NOT the Swing Amount knob...). Other than that, I have found it highly reliable and sturdy and well worth it for intensive Ableton usage.

I was lucky and had a friend who didn't enjoy it and sold it to me for $400, so I got a good deal on it. But as much as it's changed my work flow, especially if you're like me and have no other MIDI controller, it's well worth purchasing at whatever price you can get it for.
