Well if this successfully finishes installing, I'm gonna try wiping the hard disk completely, and then trying to install a 'fresh' Windows 8 from the upgrade disc (because it does give this option). Should be interesting to see if it works, and if it does I'm cancelling my Amazon orders! This, from what I understand. nope, Windows 8 does not stop any computer from doing a POST (Power On Self Test, also known as "the BIOS screen" to most people) Windows 8 does, however, hibernate it's own kernel. this has no bearing on the POST at all.
