One of the beautiful things about having a dog is the life lived in miniature. You get them as a puppy and you look after their every need. Then once they reach adolescence, if they're a good dog, roles are reversed and they look after you. But you know that one day their vision won't be quite what it was, their back legs will become arthritic, they'll start to piss and shit themselves. And ultimately you have to do right by them and it's that long, lonely, final trip to the vets.
